Hi - I just called WaMu for a reconsider......they said my account was in bad standing cause of a Providian account that was closed in 2001....I'm not aware of this account & looking at my credit....I don't see it on there. They said that this was holding me back from getting a CC. First question.....if it was closed in 2001....it should be off my credit then right? Second question.....if it's not on my credit...how would i get information on this account....it's not showing & i have no idea what it's all about. Thanks!

i'm on the phone with WaMu right now....they are saying that if i pull a credit report for 7+ years....i will see the account on there. I don't get it....even if this account was mine....it should have dropped off already....plus i can't find it on my credit report.....so frustrating! are they basically blackballing me?

It seems like Wamu/providian do Blacklist and some members here have

some luck and slip through the crack.

well.....we have our biz account with them.....i'm thinking about moving it now....i thought i was doign such a good job with my credit....and then for them to pull something that is over 7+ years really gets to me! ughhh

wow. Your lucky, I tried to recon with wamu. I was told wamu doesn't have the ability to do recons, that its all computer based.

The bur go by last activity on an account. If they are suppling info past 7 years and it wasn't a jugment account the get a lawyer and file under the fair credit reporting act!

if the account was closed in good standing it as 3 more years to drop off

3 MORE YEARS? SORRY....I DON'T UNDERSTAND.....I THOUGHT THINGS USUALLY DROP OFF AFTER 7 YEARS. THIS ACCOUNT WAS PAID IN MARCH 2001. SO FRUSTRATING! THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP!

Bad accounts report for 7-7.5 years from DOFD.

Positive accounts report for 10 years from date closed.

I think the poster said the account is not on her reports, so there is nothing to get a lawyer for.  FCRA doesn't apply.

There is nothing stopping WaMu from keeping internal records of the account forever, which appears to be what is happening.
