Somebody on here warned me about this and to whoever you are: I AM SO SORRY I DID NOT LISTEN!!!!!!
Approved for BBVA AMEX NBA card 11/3 for $5,000. Score at time was 660 EXP FICO 8. Been using my card since, even did 2 BT to the card: One for $755 fro Credit One and one for $1,000 to a CU VISA. The Credit One is showing as PENDING on my BBVA account now, as they alreasy cashed the check. I noted that a second inquiry randomly popped up on 11/4, so I requested they remove it, since they did the approval with the INQ from 11/3 -- they denied it ever being done, so I had to file a complaint with their ESCALATION team. FINALLY got the call from an escaltion rep today, who informed me she was going to remove the 2nd INQ if I sent in a dispute letter via email. That was at 1pm. I come home to use the card online -- DECLINED. Sure enough I see "THIS CARD IS BLOCKED". Heart sank.
Called my Exec Rep back, of course she is gone -- sent an email too marked URGENT. I am stunned!!! I called in, account CLOSED and will get letter in 7-10 days!!!! NOTHING has changed on my CR, in fact only for the better. Scores up 10-15pts since approval. This HAS TO BE related to my complaint which was processed today, and 1 hour after I spoke with the Exec Rep, the card is closed!?? She did mention that she had to contact the Bankcard Review team to get the INQ removed, I am assuming they did the closure.. I saw this EXACT issue happened to others back in spring but did not see resolutions to all of the psots, though saw some were re-opened after BBB complaints or speaking ot Exec Rresolutions....
Card has yet to report to any CRAs, balance is only $431, with the $755 BT pending...the AWFUL "Supervisor" in customer care said they will not honor those BTs!!! Which menas my other banks will bounce those checks ?!! This is a MESS!!!!! The next supervisor said they WILL honor the one that is already pending, but not the other. I am almost on the verge of tears and have no idea what to do, as this is derialing all my hard work. I should have heeded the warnings. Does ANYONE have experience with this happening?? Please please help and give me whatever insigght you may have here ... this is so ridiculous! Thank you in advance all... this is truly upsetting.
Best of luck and hopefully it was a mis-communication between the person you spoke with earlier about inquiry removal and the closure.. I wish you all the luck and hopefully you hear back from her tomorrow and she/he isn't gone for the holidays.
FinStar: I do have Frauds Alerts, and i'm wondering if upon manual review today when the Exec Specialist called over this made something close it out??
Other than that I truly beleive it is retailiation for my complaint. I will wait to hear back from my Exec Rep, but have a pre-typed complaint all ready for the CFPB / BBB, as I see many others have had success with BBVA for almost this exact issue and gotten reinstated or items removed from the CRAs. At the very least I will request NO INFO reported to the big 3 -- this account has literally been opened 3 weeks!
I find it very odd that one hour after I speak with the BBVA EXEC REP, the account is closed!! They must have been spooked or angered by my complaint. I am so upset and confused as to how those BT will be handled as I got 2 different answers -- this is unbelievable! I mean, will those checks they sent the other 2 banks bounce? ? Making it look like a returned payment on my end ?! A MESS I tell you !!! I'm doing all I can not to lose it.

So sorry op. I can't say how many times ive heard issues with this card. I know some are problem free but wow. I hope you get it worked out. This is a lender you should not call and talk to too much. ooh geez and forget a complaint. I just don't get it. wow.
edit. Losing it will serve no one any good. Just keep your composure and try and talk to them nicely and see if it was a mistake. Maybe a rep hit the wrong button after your call and hit close.
I would like to think that rep did not do it on purpose. Any way. Fingers crossed for you.

@Anonymous has changed? In your "LOL @ Discover" thread (four days ago) you said you opened several other accounts this month. That's a pretty big change in the eyes of most creditors.
I do remember when you got this card and being congratulated and warned. i remember you referring to the warning as being a downer. You were right to feel like they were being a downer, but it was just a friendly heads up because BBVA is beyond weird. There are obviously people who are happy with them and have no complaints, but there are way too may threads of horror stories for this bank to have isolated incidents
This bank is famous for handing out cards like candy and cancelling them due to identity issues. For this reason I would never attempt to do business with them, Sure the card sounds great, but i'd hate to be using the card with a cloud of random cancellation constantly looming. Sorry to hear they did this to you, And I hope you reach some sort of resolution, but with these guys who knows. Anyhow just remember, not all advice is meant to be a downer even though it may come across that way sometimes. Good Luck!!!
