Wal-Mart store card question

I just opened the account roughly 3 weeks ago. I signed into today to check and make sure. My payment posted to see. This account can't be accessed online (I paid via bill pay though my bank). I call Wal-Mart and they tell me the account is under review by manage and call back jan 13th and then they can tell me something? Anyone have this happen to them?

Re: Wal-Mart store card question

On the surface, it appears your account was flagged or suspended for some reason.  Did you recently open several accounts, namely GECRB accounts (within the last 30-60 days)?  Has your utilization increased considerably?  Any negative items that have surfaced on your CRs?  Was the original application submitted online or via the store?

Did they mention anything regarding verification? I was able to create an account after I had the card in hand...if you haven't been able to create an online account, you may have to wait.  This is assuming you've attempted via direct website and through Walmart website as well as the number on the back of your card.  TBH, it sounds like some sort of glitch especially if you've paid on the account which means it's an active account.

Any advice given is always YMMV...

Re: Wal-Mart store card question

I had an Amazon account I opened then closed. In Under 3 weeks. Long story short got a call sometime verify a credit number for Amazon I gave it to them then called Amazon they never called. So asked to change The account number out card number. They sent me to a verification department and they asked questions that where my father's account. (I'm a junior) So I couldnt answer questions so she froze it. So I got irritated and closed it. I opened 4 or 5 accounts though ge bank (Amazon PayPal connect banana republic and care credit. I did apply for others and was denied. So I called PayPal and that acccount is under review also. Any ideas. Been making payments even when statements haven't been generated.

I work two jobs and make roughly 38500 a year. Filed bankruptcy in 2011 because of a million plus in medical bills

With the activity you just described, your profile may have been flagged for fraud.  Not to mention that you and your father share the same name which can present its own set of problems.  Once my son reached age of majority, every app I filled out included "Sr." at the end of my name to prevent a mixed file.

Pull your reports and see what's on there.  If you see accounts that are not familiar to you, then you may have a mixed file.  Also, pay attention if you have a FA (fraud alert) because if its on one report it will be on the other reports since they convey that type of information with one another.

Re: Wal-Mart store card question

GE doesn't like people opening a lot of its cards at once. We've had cases here before of people having all their GE accounts closed or put under review when they've opened multiple GE accounts in a short time. That alone could have triggered the problem.

Your previous financial problems may have added to GE's nervousness. Hard to say what impact that mess with the Amazon card may have had; but if they have your and your father's information mixed up, that could certainly be another contributing factor, but just opening multiple cards at once has been enough to trigger AA for some other MyFicoans.

+1

OP, what was the timeframe for opening the other GECRB accounts?  Did you open those other 4 or 5 within 60 days?

Re: Wal-Mart store card question

I went on a spree in the past 2 months with 18 inquiries. I rarely sign jr. I do not know to check fraud alerts and currently working with all 3 agencies in disputes on an first premier card reporting negative abd part of bankruptcy. When I paid in full in 2011 and closed bc of fees. Also a repo from 2011 that isn't being reported correctly. I also did put in apps for 7 other cars though ge bank sense 12/19. In 2.5 years I have no missed payments or negative factors besides bankruptcy and tax Lein. And repo.

Exactly, anecdotal evidence from other folks who have had (or triggered) similar situations suggests that this was likely the outcome.

What was the reasoning for applying for so many CCs, let alone GECRB accounts in such a short period?
