So I stopped in to Walgreens to get cold medication for my grandson and went to checkout. The cashier rang up my items and said I am pre-approved for their Mastercard with no information about me whatsoever 🤣. Has this happened to anyone else?
Are you a Walgreens Rewards member? Have you had prescriptions filled by the Walgreens pharmacy and been required to provide identification? If so on both, I believe you may have consented in some way to a soft pull for marketing.
Its probably unlikely any lender would approve an account with no information. That walgreens credit card has an online prequalify page. If i were you i would try that prequalify page first rather then burn an hp blind.

Yes, last time I went in they let me know I was pre-approved. I am a Walgreens rewards member so they have my information and I am sure they can tell what kind of card you use to pay with as sort of a pre-qualifyer (not real-time but past transactions were probably reviewed).
I have also received no less than 2 emails telling me I am approved. Not today, Satan, er Synchrony.
Now that I think about it. I did enter my phone number for rewards program. So that must be where they got my information. Thanks
Not for me either. The interest rate was stupid high for my credit standing too!
