Does anyone know how the process for the conversion to a MC on the store card goes? Is it a new pull? I just recently received a pre-approval letter in the mail and sent in the app, approved for $1600 on store card (letter was for store card) after seeing my alert on Experian of a new account and checking the limit because after sending the app they told me I was approved and will be receiving my card in the mail without notice of limit approved for.
I also noticed they pulled TU (760 at the moment).

in the past they have been upgraded, but reports of it happening since they converted from Discover cards to the new MC based program, I haven't heard of them being upgraded, perhaps in time they will begin again. Long term if your scores are good enough you may want to think about the Sam's Club MC card, much better rewards card also usable at Walmart, and keep your store card for 0% interest deals, and CLI luv every 4 months or so.
So you have a store card and applied for another card and was approved for the mastercard version? that is common with synch bank.
Otherwise, you have to wait for them to offer you the ugrade from store card to mastercard.
I just called them and they told me you can't request for it to be upgraded. It has to be offered to you. And that if I really want that Walmart MasterCard, what I can do is to apply for it. The thing is if I applied and got approved, they said I can't combine my CLs over to the new card. I don't think it's worth the precious HPs.
AS stated. you can't request the upgrade but they will invite you to upgrade after a couple of years.Yikes. But you can apply at anytime to see if you can get the store mc. if you scores are prime time. it will not be a problem. if you scores have improved dramatically since getting store card. not a problem. however if you score is same or a little better you may just get another store card. best results. make sure you tu is around 700 and the mc will not be a problem.
It seems to be the case, o well, I guess I'll just keep it around, don't have many MCs, so hoping to get an upgrade eventually.

As your profile improves with age, there's a possibility that you could be offered the MC upgrade. Thie process can take anywhere from 12 months to a couple years (just depends on account elegibility and any ongoing marketing or credit promotions). Also, keep in mind, if you are offered the MC upgrade and accept, your store card will be closed and the MC will report as a new account.

Assuming there is no general need for a Mastercard, are there any specific rewards attached to the Walmart Mastercard? I understand there are promotions occasionally offered, but I assume the promos would work the same way for the Walmart Store card, right?
I guess I'm just wondering if there is a actual benefit to having the Mastercard version other than the obvious (being able to use it anywhere). With a TU of 760, you should have no trouble getting a rewards card with a prime lender.
As long as the promos are indeed the same, I would honestly not sweat it too much, and would hang on to the store card while concentrating on getting a suitable rewards card with Chase, Capital One, Barclays, etc.

I agree with this. If you really want a Walmart MC, then get the Sam's MC. It has much better rewards.
