So I have been thinking about the upgrade to the Discover for about a week now and today I called them and made them answer some questions. It was funny trying to get the right answer. Yeah, so it does seem that if you listen close enough to what they say, then yeah it is a brand new account, but all the payment info stays the same and history, in their system. IN THEIR SYSTEM.
So I asked what my limit would be if I accepted and then I asked them to simply change my limit to that! I have better rewards cards than the 1% that comes with the Discover upgrade.

I am going to wait and see what the mc walmart card has to offer. I received discover offer few days to upgrade, going to wait and see if the upgrade to MC is worth adding new TL
I doubt they will change the rewards structure when they go to the MC version, but who knows. I just don't see any reason to lose the AAoA for the upgrade when the rewards for the Discover are only a flat 1%. I guess if it applies to purchases at Walmart it would be OK if you were going to charge something and float the balance for a while and use the special financing together, but other than doing that, well no real benefit. I need the AAoA for the time being since I am pondering putting my CapOne cards on the chopping block.

AAoA will not be affected for up to 10 years post close.

The Sam's Club MC benefit structure changed and it's a very competitive card. If Wally follows suit, it'd be a great CC to have.

If its like the sam's club MC , i am going to have to contemplate passing on applying for sallie mae card, since i already have the 6% on groceries with BCP. Only thing i would be missing is amazon but i am not the biggest amazon purchaser.
It would be nice to know before the offer expires!
Does anyone actually know when the Walllly or Sam's MC are supposed to be official??? I have researched online and no apps or anything have been found.. just a rumor on here lol...
I think it will be in just a few months. It is official as Discover themselves are ending their relationships with all banks. I think it is silly and they should expand it. I think it would especially go over well in the great country of China, since you can use their card there everywhere but no one knows it. They have a processing agreement with Union Pay, which is the national processing unit there. However, no one knows it since when you go there there are no indications that places take Discover. I tried to use it a restaurant there and was told they didn't take that card. I pulled out my MC and they said they do take that, so I handed them the Discover and made them try it. It worked just fine, much to the surprise of the waiter. I have since used it at other places in China with no issue. If they partnered with some of the banks there, such as Bank of China, ICBC, and another large bank there I think the symbol mark would then get put up everywhere. This would certainly be a benefit to them.
