Walmart Mastercard

Has anyone gotten approved for a Walmart Mastercard with a limit higher than $3,000? I ask this bc I see a lot of approvals for $2k-$3k and nothing higher. Anyone out there?? If so, DPs??

I am considering the card not bc I need a high limit but for the 5% online. But I don't want a tiny limit either ...

We got 2 cards. Initially, I got one because our business spends quite a bit on Walmart.com and the 5% was very enticing. Unfortunately, my initial limit was only $2k. After 3 YEARS, it's only at $4.5k. I've got denial after denial for CLIs with only 2 successful attempts.

My credit and income are fine, so it has nothing to do with that, and I've also spent a lot of money on it. I can't tell you exactly how much, but let's say deep into the 6 figures, and I don't mean $100k range. I mean wayyy beyond that. I've been cycling the limit several times a month, and Cap One doesn't seem to care so far.

DW got the second card about 6 months after me. She got approved for $3k, and now it's at $8k. Also plenty of CLI denials, but it's grown a bit better than mine. Spend is quite similar, in fact, it probably sees more charges since the limit is higher.

I don't understand the logic behind the lack of growth. They won't give me any significant CLI, but they did approve me for a Venture X with a $30k limit. This Walmart card in general is probably in a bucket of their crappy products, so they couldn't care less about it.

I wish I'd got in when it was still a SYNCB card because they were giving much higher limits. Oh well...

Re: Walmart Mastercard

Just checked and, even though I spend and pay off about $300 / mo, for the last 8 or so months, no auto CLI for me.

That's ok, $3k is more than enough for me.  Smiley Happy

Re: Walmart Mastercard

Wow @imaximous , I think I'm gonna pass on this one then. I mean, I guess 3k is fine except I don't really need the card. I was mostly looking for that 5%...

I got mine last fall and I got the $3K limit.  While I wish it was higher, I don't spend $3K/month on it, so the limit is fine.  The 5% rewards racks up quickly and I love all the cash back I get on the card, it's definitely worth it IMHO.

So if you don't need a high limit card and you are interested in it for the 5%, why pass on it?  Having a $3K limit doesn't affect the 5% either way.  The olnly thing that makes me sad is, the 5% back in-store for using Walmart Pay ends after 12 months and I'm about halfway through that promo and I will be sad when it ends.

Re: Walmart Mastercard

I got my card around a year and a half ago. Starting CL was 3k, but over the last 18 months I've gone from 3k up to 9.5k. YMMV but I've definitely seen growth on mine.

Spend through it is around 1.3-2k a month. I've got walmart+ as well so I end up with a good amount of cash back over a year. I'm a big fan of the card but I spend a lot through walmart on the average.

If you don't need a high limit, and you're going to spend a decent amount on Walmart.com, then it's not a bad idea to get it.

My case is completely different, so don't let me discourage you from going for it. I was only responding to your question regarding its growth. This isn't like BoA, Amex, etc., where you may start really low and end up with large limits. That's all.

The good news is, even when the 12 month in store expired, I was still able leverage 5% uncapped online orders for both, shipped to me and curbside pickup. So I could still go get fresh groceries curbside at 5%cb or have nonparishable items mailed at 5%cb.

That's all I use it for now, since it dropped to 2%cb instore card. It's definitely handy for when I need a new laptop, electronics, or office supplies at 5%cb still (online order).

Re: Walmart Mastercard

I haven't gotten any CLI on my Walmart card since I opened it almost two years ago, no matter if I put heavy spend on it, PIF or let a balance show, I tried all kinds of things but got nothing.

I do wonder if the general lack of CLIs or high CLIs people have experienced is due to parameters set by WM, I state that because back when they were with Synchrony, I remember out of all my Synch cards, the WM card was the stingiest.

With WM filling a lawsuit back in April against CapOne, I can see them being even less likely to increase CLs.
