Walmart Store Card to Walmart Discover: any ideas?

Got a nice automatic CLI on my Walmart Store Card from $300 to $1200, though it's less than 4 months old now. It was quite a surprise as I thought that CLI shoud be manually requested in case of GEMB and my JCP store card which is more than 6 months now is still on its $500 starting limit despite quite a heavy use on it.

Two questions I have now:

1.  I understand that initially Walmart Discover is offered instead of Walmart Store Card to those who qualify, and those who don't get the latter instead (or don't get anything if don't qualify at all). At the same time I rarely heard about getting an 'upgrade' from Store Card to Discover with Walmart for existing cardholders. Any ideas on what limit levels / score levels are appropriate to think about this? I can assume that CL of $1200 is not that much, but it's my largest limit so far. Is it usually done automatically or I should try to call a CS? In case of such an upgrade, will it be a HP? (My TU from Walmart was 699 last month, haven't seen the most recent one yet)

2.  (pretty strange one) Almost every time I get the card, I try to add at least my wife as an authorized user, sometimes my parents too. Was just curious - do I damage my standing with the bank by doing so in any way? I frankly never thought about this as I personally don't think it makes any damage (at least in my case, as long as my wife does not have any credit history at all, let alone baddies), but maybe the truth is less favorable?

Well, i doubt you'll ever see an upgrade option because GEMB has no affilation with Discover. I recieved CLI without asking a few times back when i had the store card. Your TU score likely good enough, depending on the rest of your history.

I haven't heard of anyone having luck by calling and asking for the upgrade. From reading on here, the people that have gotten it, have just logged into their account and there was a pop up asking if they wanted to upgrade or for a few people it was under the offers tab. I'm pretty sure you have to wait to be offered it.

I have had my Walmart card 10 months now and I log into my Walmart account every couple of weeks to see if I get the upgrade lol. No dice. For people who have got the upgrade how long have u had your card?

1. GE offers the Walmart Discover and the Sams Discover, It is not from the Bank of discover, it is from Bank of GE running off the Network of Discover, similar to Amex cards by GE.

2. Not sure certain CL or what not but in the past year we have started to see MANY offers upon logging in to various GE store cards with offers for upgrades to Visa/Amex/Discover cards depending on store and which one they run.

They also alway seem to offer nice CLI upon accepting the offer to upgrade and no HP but the down side that folks have talked about is new account, new open date and they close the store account.  Id take the short term hit to upgrade and get the large CLI.

I Started with a walmart card and reapplied for another card a year or so later. I was given the walmart discover card and kept both
