Walmart Store Card upgrade to MC letter - anyone else get one today?

Hello friends!

I received a letter today stating they are upgrading my Walmart StoreCard to the Mastercard version.  Says it will happen in April - wondering if Synch is going to start doing this to all of their "store" card offerings eventually?  

Had an upgrade happen to my PayPal Connect account to their MC version a few months ago.

Seems Wally must have been upset at all the "blue envelopes" papa smurf was sending out and decided to strike back with a " upgrade the blue to a new you" campagn

I live in Washington, D.C. I got my upgrade letter, too...

DW got one today too - her CL is $10k and TU 806 (this month). I "had" a Walmart MC (upgraded from store card) , but closed it a little over a year ago in favor of my Sams Club MC (same $10k CL on each). She mention "I didn't ask for this" I told her don't worry iyts a good thing, other than the high APR.

Is it happnening automatically? That seems weird, since it will report your old card as closed and the new MC will be a brand new credit line.

Yes it's happening automatically. BTW, every time I've had a card replaced, say by the takeover of a different lender (issuer/backer) or "upgraded" to a bank card or say be converted to a new version (say to a Signature or Freedom to Freedom Unlimited) the account has NOT reported as a new account. It;s reported but not like a new card/account. .

I too got the letter yesterday and this is their 4th attempt to upgrade me..

As always I declined the offer which you can do by calling the number provided on the letter 

I have no interest in adding a new account to my CR's

So an upgrade counts as a brand new account?  Well I defenitely don't want that.  

I am going to check my CR to see if my Paypal upgrade created a new account.

Walmart upgrades will surely result in a new account .....
