Walmart Store Card - when do they upgrade to Mastercard?

hello! I've had the walmart store card for about 3 years now, CL is $3800.  When can I expect an upgrade to the MasterCard version of this card?  I just got my Target store card upgraded to a MC, CL is $7500.  

I would much prefer to have the MC - can I call and ask for the upgrade or do you have to wait like Target?

U do know if u upgrade u will lose the age of the account right they will issue a new account.

Mine upgraded a little over 3 years old, and I can confirm it is a new account. It won't be backdated to your original store card date. Mine was automatic and happened shortly after my scores peaked over 700.

It's my understanding that accounts get reviewed (automated I think) periodically and get upgrades that way. Synchrony has no rhyme or reason for when this happens for customers to get upgrades.

Had mine for 4.5 years when I got the offer. I didn't upgrade due to the new trade line issue but just posting so you have the data point.

Did you get an option? I just received a letter saying congrats your new card is on the way. I would have rather kept my old account. I don't need the extra MasterCard!

Thats the thing with Walmart. When you want the Mastercard, you cant get get, when you can get it, you dont need it. Go figure

As a related DP since it is Synchrony related I received an email from them earlier this month stating that my JCPenney card was being upgraded to the MC version and on its way. When I posted this AJC mentioned to call them to have it canceled so I did just that. According to the two reps I talked to (just to confirm somewhat) they supposedly sent mail to me telling me this was happening and if I didn't want it I should have called to cancel the "upgrade" on the account and it was too late to do anything since it was already processed. Since I open all my mail - even spam mail - I called bs in my mind but didn't tell them that when I hung up.

So, as I would think with the JCP card as long as you don't activate it the old/original account should stay intact. Dunno what this does as far as what future cards you'll get but I imagine like me you'll cross that bridge when you get to it.

Pretty much the same here. I just never activated the card. Eventually I got a letter or email (can't remember which) stating that my offer to upgrade would be good only til July 31, 2017 and that if I didn't upgrade by then that the offer would be revoked and could impact future offers, etc. (I'm paraphrasing)

Now that it's near the end of August I still have a link to activate my Walmart MC. I just ignore it.

Thread's a few months old but since my own Walmart Store Card is nearing the 1-year anniversary, I'm wondering if anyone has gotten offers to have their card upgraded to MC at around that time.
