Hi All
I opened a Walmart store card 2 years ago. One of my first since starting to rebuild. CL was $600 than $1100 then $2700.
They recently sent me a MC(transferred the store card balance and closed it) with a $5000 CL which is awesome.
The only downside is that now it showed up on myfico as being a new account and dropped my score a couple of points.
I have been trying to let my AAoA grow so I havent app'd in a year.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
I was hoping it would be listed as the age of the store card.
Is it worth calling the rep and seeing if they can age it?
Thanks
I don't know to much about this stuff but it's worth a call to ask.
Sorry to say there's no use in calling
The new card is a new T/L and nothing can be done about it ......
I've turned the upgrade down twice for that very reason
1) it reports as a new account and thus affects my AAoA
2) the rewards at best are meh

yeap usually how it shows as new acct...so I guess you have to choose like myjourney did...
Good luck ........
Yep the offer when mailed gives you 90 days to accept or deny...
If you accept no action is required and your new card will show up
If you decline they supply a phone number to call (automated system)
I just got prison r^ped by Equifax for converting my Walmart store card to a Walmart MC (no inquiry). My overall AAoA was lowered from 7.8yrs to 7.2yrs and my Equifax FICO score dropped 14pts once the Walmart card got closed! **bleep**? Credit utilization stayed the same.
God, I HATE Equifax with a bloody Game of Thrones passion.

If you think that's the "prison treatment", just wait until your only (closed/PIF) mortgage account ages off your reports... a 0.6 decrease in AAoA will seem like a "hug" in comparison!
I have both the store and MC. Couldn't you have both?
