Wanting to apply for BoA CC, have a question

Hi just pulled up my credit score and it is 685/670/671. I have a pretty good history with no collections and always paid my bills on time. The only problem is my credit history is pretty short, only about 1.5 years. I already have a CapOne cc withe a $600 cl. I was thinking about applying for a unsecured BoA card, should I even bother? Will I be approved?

You should be fine to apply for an unsecured card with them.

Check the button that say's "check for offers"

It will be a soft pull and it will show you if you are preapproved for any cards now. If you are opted out, have a fraud alert or security freeze on EX it won't give you anything more than the checking account and secured card option.

Good luck!

Hmm I tried to do the pre-approval but I didnt get any offers. That's weird. Well I think I dont have any opted out, fraud alert or security freeze. What is an opted out anyways? Should I still try to directly apply for the platnium visa and call them if they deny me? Also does the pre-approval affect ur credit score?

People opt out to keep the CR's from selling your info to those who would like to offer credit and services to you.

BoA is well worth the inquiry.  There are number's posted in the backdoor number thread should you get the 30 day message and want to call to speak with an analyst. With no baddies and some history going for you, all should be well.

Good luck!

And no, the preapproval link was a soft pull. It will not affect your score.

The hard pull when you actually apply will ding you a few points.

Re: Wanting to apply for BoA CC, have a question

I just read another post where you say you are a student. BoA offer's student cards that may well suit you given your short history.

Discover also offers a great student card. Smiley Happy

Edited to add Citibanks mtvu card is another good one.

That is not necessarily a decline. You should call (if they don't call you first) tomorrow. If they don't feel you are ready for the platinum plus, ask if they would go for the student card.
