I bought a jacket from a website (darn Facebook ads) and it looked really nice and the deal sounded really good.
So I went ahead and purchased it. I then read reviews (I know I should of done it before hand, hindsight is 20/20). Not only is the webpage "new" (i.e., 7 months) but many of the reviews are "fake" and photos that are stolen from Amazon.
Now I'm not the type of person to want to do a chargeback (I know it costs the merchant money), and I know they probably had it coming to them (though I still feel bad).
I emailed them for 4 days (after completion of order), each time requesting my order be refunded and cancelled.
No response.
So this morning I went ahead and filed a dispute.
Has anyone had to do anything similar? How did you feel about it? I just wanted some insight and wanted to vent some frustrations I had - thanks for reading.
So, you purchased/bought online, CC was charged but you haven't received said jacket, right? Is there any indication that it shipped yet? But, merchant hasn't responded.
Just wanted to confirm so that I'm on the same page as other responses trickle in.
Yes that's correct. No word or email, or update from seller regarding status of my item.
IME, a key thing is what the seller said on the page about cancellation. If you never receive the order, then it's pretty clear, but if the jacket arrives, and it's pretty much as described (and not fake) then the issuer may decline that charge back, unless the seller has promised refunds if dissatisfied etc.
Sounds premature to me. Also, the chargeback, or disputing a charge, procedure isn't exactly there for just changing your mind on a purchase.

Funny that is not how I read this....OP emailed a vendor for FOUR days with no response....HORRID Customer Service, on THAT alone I would put in a dispute.....but to each his own....

It's been a matter of DAYS. And this wasn't Macy’s. It was a FB ad for some little online store....
I still think it's an abuse of the system.
Im curious what you used as grounds for chargeback?
Bad reviews or not getting response in 4 days?

Eh crappy customer service is OK if it is a small online store? That would be one way NOT to end up like "a Macy's" LOL
A chargeback after only 4 days (and if that was this morning that means only 2 business days elapsed) for non-receipt would definitely be seen as abusive by your credit card issuer after they conclude their investigation, unless the merchant guarantees handling and delivery within that window, fails to deliver, and fails to make the purchase right. Abuse of the chargeback procedure is a violation of all cardholder agreements, and this is something that should be used as a last resort if a merchant has failed to deliver upon the goods or services you purchased.
