Watch those GEMB GW letters

Have an open GEMB Carecredit account since 2002.  Had a few old lates (2004/2205).  I sent a GW letter and received a response from GEMB dated 5/7/08 stating that they appreciated me as a customer, blah, blah and that they were notifying all CRAs to remove ALL derogatory info from my account.  I was extremely happy.

EX - removed immediately, EQ - removed 5/28 and TU - finally off on 6/27.   On 6/28, GEMB updates my credit reports and EQ and TU reporting lates again.

Call TU to find out that the removals were overwritten by updates and I need to call GEMB Customer Service.   I call GEMB CS and was rudely told that "you are not getting your way on this. The GW removal letter should not have been sent out.  Your credit history is accurate per FCRA".   Can you believe that?

I call back and ask for a supervisor who then tells me that the letter refers to only the last 12 payments on my account.   I said why would I need a letter for the last 12 month history, my account is current since 2005.   She says she is sorry the other guy was rude, but he was correct.  I remind her of my letter and what it says.  She says no again.   I promise to escalate to corporate.  She says go ahead.  End of call.

Not taking this lying down.  I calm myself down and call corporate offices.  After explaining the whole thing again, a rep named Dave simply asks "do you still have that original letter from us?"   I say yes.  He gives me his personal fax and asks that all documents be sent today and he will handle.

My point, never accept anything on face value and there is always a higher level to escalate in the CC world.

I will keep you posted on outcome.

Re: Watch those GEMB GW letters

Hmm...this makes me a little nervous, for I just received a letter in response to my GEMB/Dillards GW.  After a long, drawn out process, my Dillard's card is finally being reopened and in the letter they stated the same thing about removing all derogatory info from my account.  I, too, was thrilled when I read it.  So far, I don't see the removal changes that I was hoping for, but it's still early...

Good luck...keep us posted!Smiley Indifferent

Re: Watch those GEMB GW letters

I've received gw from both Dillard's and JCP,,,both gemb owned.  GEMB is very easy to work with.  I think you both will be successful in your search for gw...

The rep not only reversed two lates from JCP, she refunded both months late fees.  NICEEEEEE

Re: Watch those GEMB GW letters

Oh yes!

I was so excited about my card being reopened that I forgot to include this, fishbjc!  I was reimbursed for several months of late fees and finance charges as well.Smiley Very Happy  This was a total surprise!!  Just this, along with the reopening my Dillard's card, was more that I expected.  I am totally happy with this.  I can't imagine that they would renege on the removal part...thanks for your input on this.Smiley Happy

Re: Watch those GEMB GW letters

I too would love the address to GEMB that you sent too and if you can give the fax number to the corporate office. I have an account with them through Chevron. The account I paid in full in Sept 07 and in March 08 thereabouts they posted I was late 30 days last July 2007 30 days. Yes I sorta was late but that was because Chevron doubled my payments out of the blue with no late pays in the past. I had gone from a payment of $150 to $300 which I could not make.

Re: Watch those GEMB GW letters (update - one for the little guy)

As previously posted, I took this straight to corporate headquarters.   Well, today I got a call from GE Money Bank advising me that this has been rectified - all derogatories have been REMOVED permanently.

Apparently, there are 2 feeds - one for history and one for monthly payments, etc.

Added bonus, a guy from TU's headquarters (yes, I go all the way when I have been wronged....) gave me a call a few minutes ago.   They are updated report today and not waiting for the feed as it was confirmed by creditor on phone.

Life is sweet sometimes.
