I just got a bizarre robo-call from a MA phone number to my cell phone. A woman stated that there was an offer to lower APR on "your credit card," but didn't indentify which CCC they were with. They then provided an option to connect with someone to speak about it. Needless to say, I hung up, as this seemed VERY suspicious.
The phone number they called from was 978-465-3172. Has anyone else received this call?
It is a scam.
Lenders NEVER call you to offer lower APR. Why would they do so? They earn most of their profits from interest. Only when you call and beg them would they lower the APR.

+1, a search on that number indicates it is of dubious origin....
I have been getting these calls for awhile but on my home phone. I dont have voice mail or caller ID so if I answer the call and hear the message I usually hang up. The last time they called I pushed the number to talk to a cust rep. I informed him that all my credit cards have 0% interest rates and I cant get any lower than that so please dont call back anymore. There was a long pause, then he hung up. Have not heard from them since that call but I am sure they will be calling again.
I get these calls from time to time. Usually I just hang up, sometimes I play with them. I ask which credit card, they tell me any credit card I have. I ask but which card are you calling about. They ask me how many I have. I tell them none. They tell me they know I have credit cards. I tell them I'm only an authorized user on my seven year old daughter's account and hand the phone to her. She starts telling them about monster high dolls and sings the theme to Frozen.
Not only is this a scam, but I would like to warn everybody of a scam currently going around, where you get a call telling you your Mastercard has been locked and you need to call a number to unlock it.
Not only do I not have a Mastercard, but why (If it was legit) would they call at 1:35 AM?

Sometime lenders do call when your card is suspended. If you received such call,
* Check your card status online or mobile.
* If a card is truly suspended, call the number on the back of your card. Do NOT call the number this unknown caller provided.
Too funny. I also play along with emails that i get that someone I know is in a foreign country and have gotten their purse or wallet stolen and can I send them some money but not to tell anyone. I tell them please tell me where to send the money and how much. Unfortunately some people do fall for these emails.
