Well, Trigger Pulled on AMEX...

Approved instantly for the BCP (I guess), but just got the message saying I'll receive the card in 7-10 days. Is there some secret methodology to figuring out what the limit is?? haha

I did a quick FAKO check just to make sure everything looked good prior to app submission.  EX FAKO was 786, my EX FICO was 771 when I went through a mortgage refi in October, but my utes are lower so I think the FAKO is in the ballpark.

Thanks to all who offered advice!

Great card to have for daily expenses! I love my BCE. Congratulations. You could probably call up a representative and ask them.

Re: Well, Trigger Pulled on AMEX...

Thanks, planning to use this card for most purchases (6% on groceries + 3% on gas + $150 welcome offer was too good to pass up).  This will be my cash back card.  After I burn through this welcome offer, the plan is to app for the Chase Sapphire for its welcome offer and to have a points/travel reward card.  I have a few major purchases to make in early '12 that should make the initial $3K spend requirement no problem (unfortunately!) haha.

Had some major credit problems back in the 'just-graduated-college-bought house-no-money' days.  Rebuilding credit is definitely a journey that requires an incredible amount of patience and work, but it's important.

Happy holidays

Re: Well, Trigger Pulled on AMEX...

Congrats GG-BC . . . sounds like you can get rid of the BC part of your username!

I went for the Blue Cash Preferred; so no points bonus for me.  The hunt is on for a good travel card though!

Re: Well, Trigger Pulled on AMEX...

Congrats! That is a great card to have and it will grow with you (unlike Discover for me - LOL - different thread).

Amex is an awesome company to be associated with. That credit line will grow with you. Hit them up in about 65 days and I bet they will triple that line.

Again, congrats!

Just called in, initial CL in $7.3K.  Guess I'll go for the daily double or triple in about 60 days...

Re: Well, Trigger Pulled on AMEX...

Well, trigger pulled AGAIN.

The travel rewards card I had been eyeing was the Chase Sapphire Preferred.  The plan WAS to wait to app for this card after I had earned the initial $150 cash back from the Amex BCP.

The Chase Card has $625 worth of travel rewards if $3K is spent in the first 90 days.  Just remembered that I booked a big block of hotel rooms for a bachelor party in January, and that would be a great chance to put a big dent in that $3K.  Took the plunge, apped, and thank goodness it was instantly approved.  I was nervous as I thought I could easily get denied for too many INQs.  Called the new app status and they went with a $10K line.  At least my utes will go down without making a payment!

FINALLY have both the cards I wanted.  Time to resist further apps for at least a year!!
