Wells Fargo Active Cash Card Product Change Question

Hello, this past Monday I product changed from my Wells Fargo Platinum Card to the Wells Fargo Active Cash Card online. That Platinum Card originally started out as a Secured Card, then upgraded to unsecured Platinum Card, now I PC'd it to Active Cash. The card has a $3,000 credit limit. That is the same limit as it was when it was secured, platinum, and now active cash. Does anyone have the Active Cash Card with a credit limit under $5,000, and have a Visa Signaure version of the card? I know that Visa Signature is usually for CL's of $5,000 and higher. I also know that this card is marketed as a Visa Signature card, but since my credit limit on it is only $3,000 I don't know if I will actually receive a Visa Signature version of the card in the mail, or a standard regular Visa. I ask this because I do take advantage of some of the Visa Signature perks and benefits on my other cards. I would like to do the same with this card in the future. Please let me know if anyone has PC'd or new app'd for this card, and got a CL of under 5K and still got a Visa Signature card. Thank you.

I know, thanks. I just wanted to see if anyone else was able to provide any other insight regarding this.

@dpatel917

The Apple Card from Goldman Sachs is a World Elite MC.  They have issued cards with a SL of $100....

I received my WF Active Cash Visa Signature card with a SL of $1,000.

These titles (World, World Elite, Signature and Infinite)  typically have no correlation to big limits anymore.

Unless I missed something, but my understanding is that the Apple Card is issued as a WE, just without the WE benefits. No?

Yes you are spot-on @FinStar.

The AC is issued a WEMC w/o many of the Elite benefits.

I was editing my post to 'World Elite' and you must have replied before my edit populated.

(I struggle to type and see properly on my tiny screen.)

😂 No worries @NoMoreE46 -- it's all good.

And you're absolutely right, any more these days the dilution of Platinum/Gold MC, WMC, WEM tiers have no bearing for a lot of issuers with SLs.  Anyone remember the GM BuyPower WE Card with their $250 SLs? 😬

At any rate, just a bit of a sidetrack but back on topic.

Re: Wells Fargo Active Cash Card Product Change Question

I did the same thing (secured to platinum to active cash) and my limit stayed the same $1000 and the card is a signature.

Re: Wells Fargo Active Cash Card Product Change Question

You are correct in that Visa Signature usually has a minimum credit limit of $5000. I have looked at the disclosure sheet in the recent past and it shows the minumum to be only $1000. The last time I checked, a few weeks ago, there was no mention of a credit limit, even more disturbing than a low limit. Since the picture that Wells Fargo shows has Visa Signature on the front, this would be deceptive practice if you do not get just that and no other. Some issuers will tell you if you are not approved, that they will offer you a lesser card, which you are not forced to accept. WF does not so warn. I got my Visa Signature Flagship card from Navy Federal. Hoped to get CL of $25000, but only $12000, and APR of 9.99%.  I applied 3 years ago for WF Credit Wise card when my Fico 8 was 769 and got CL of $2000 and I felt like I was robbed. Later found out almost no one ever gets more the $1000 CL with this card. Heard many complaints about stupid low CLs from WF. Only 3 good things about WF. First is heavy presence in inter-mountain west - Bank of America is mostly absent. Second is WF reports to and draws from Experian and you can get your Fico 8 score free from Experian. Third is that Experian fixes your credit record in as little as 4 days when you file a dispute. My Equifax and Transunion scores continue in 100 point freefalls month after month from identity theft meaning I have to cancel two credit accounts and start over, losing 4 years of credit history. Experian Fico 8 score holding at 792 last 8 months. Plan to do product change myself but only if WF allows me to post $1.8 million net worth summary to underwriter first.
