Some anecdotes over on r/CC today suggesting Amazon is getting 4x points on this card with the Mastercard MCC. Unconfirmed, but if true could change rapidly if WF finds out.@Windchill92 Thank you for sharing! That's a great find! It will be interesting to see how long this lasts before WF makes an adjustment!
Bet it's because of Amazon being a "Bookstore", same as how the Affinity FCU card does Amazon+Bookstores on purpose.
They'd have to code in a specific exception to exclude Amazon (maybe in the way gift cards are often excluded.)
I mean, technically it's correct that Amazon counts... we just forget it DOES think of itself as a Bookstore, and that IS a specific category this card is for!

UPDATE: Had P2 call about Barnes & Noble not counting. At first the CSR read off a long list of conditions etc, and tried to tell us that Book Stores were not a category that counted, and to look at P2's agreement and their website. We pulled up the website and pointed out where it specifically listed Book Stores, and she went to talk to someone else.
Thankfully, when she came back, she said exactly what I was hoping: yes Book Stores count, and normally Barnes & Noble would count, but for whatever reason THAT Barnes & Noble had their MCC set as Restaurants, and she couldn't do anything to change that but would report it.
So, incorrect MCC was exactly what I was hoping for in this situation.

Good, but it also means that everyone should take these lists with some caution: just because someone was successful at a branch of X doesn't mean you will be at a different branch, either because your branch has the wrong MCC, or the original poster's branch did, and X shouldn't in fact, count!
But the 4% treasure hunt on this card, with so many apparent categories, is interesting!

It really is. I have it flagged to be tried for multiple random online things, mostly subscriptions or memberships, that don't normally classify as "retail shopping" for the BofA CCR or AmEx BCE.

Happy to report one more getting 4%
Verified 4%:
amazon.com
I know there were a few indications that was the case, but seemed too good to be true so I had to try for myself. Purchses were on Amazon site but not books. This seals the deal for this being a good card for me (in addition to some other key categories for me). Sure, I could get 5% with an actual Amazon card, but I can live with 4% for now without having another inquiry. Fingers crossed they don't nerf this too soon...

Actually, if you can be slightly patient, most purchases end up being 6% for lumping them in with your Amazon delivery day. Was 7% on Prime Day. Once upon a time I thought I'd downsize this card... now it's my biggest earner 🤷♀️
But yeah, prolly not worth jumping to (not being sarcastic). 4% on a card for so many things over 3% on a store card is a good deal.

Updated list as of today (8/6/2024)
4% Transactions
1-800-FLOWERS
Savers (Thrift Store)
Stars Antique Market
Michael's
Ty.com/Ty Store (yep, the folks behind Beanie Babies)
1% Transactions
Etsy
Chirp (Back pain devices/medical supplies)
City of Long Beach, CA (Parking Meter)
Paul Castle Studios (Art Prints and Books)
South Coast Chorale (community choir, appears to have coded as "Charities" instead of "Entertainment")
I figured I wouldn't have issues with Michael's or the antique store coding, but I was curious if Ty.com would code as a toy store (and it appears it did).
So far, Etsy as 1% is probably the biggest surprise on my list. I suspect that each shop might be able to set a description and I'm guessing "planet friendly" only applies to shops selling used goods instead of new products.

Barnes & Nobles (may have P2 in and see what the MCC was that this didn't count, because I thought bookstores specifically did)
@unsungivy thank you for sharing these data points! Happy to hear you're getting the bonus on Apple TV now. The Barnes and Noble omission is interesting. I wonder if we start contacting WF about charges that possibly should be 4% if they will do anything to help get them changed?
The Showtime via Walmart+ is a unique charge. Mine always codes as Walmart for me. I have been trying to get it set up to be put on my US Bank Shoppers Cash card since that gives 6% back at Walmart for me. So far it keeps going to my Amex Platinum instead since that is how my Walmart+ membership is billed. I probably will need to call in to get it set up properly.
Please update us if you can get those split up. I have the same set-up with it being primarily to AmEx plat for the free Walmart, but would like that single part of the charge to go to a diff card (hell, even if it's just Discover having 5% Walmart this quarter).

@unsungivy just wanted to let you know I haven't forgotten about you. I spent an hour trying to find a phone number to call them and ask this question. Never could find one. I remember calling the Walmart+ customer service before back around January. I wish I had saved the number. I will keep trying though and will report back if I am able to split the payment for Paramount+ w/ Showtime and Walmart + onto different cards. They really must not want us to reach them because they make it extremely difficult to be reached by phone.
