What CC do you recommend I should get?

Hi I am new to this forum (officially) but in reality I’ve been a lurker for a while just never posted anything. I signed up for EIDT a while ago after seeing how much people recommended it on here and have been checking my score constantly waiting for it to go up. Now I have a high-ish score, steady job and want to apply for a new CC to further improve my credit.

Here’s some info about me:

24 year old male

Make roughly 30k a year

No Debt/loans/mortgage

Live frugal-ish, pay off balances every month

1 CC with BoA, $700 limit ($0 in use), had it for 5 years with no CLI’s or late payments Just did a CLI and got bumped up to $2700. Woooooohoooooo!!!

1 hard pull from Chase in December when I applied for the Chase Freedom (pre-approved offer in the mail) but got denied because I tried to do a balance transfer (not a smart move I know) and didn’t have a steady job.

2 cell phone plans under my name, in good standing

Credit Scores according to EIDT: TU: 760 – EX:760 – EQ:747<-------- May have changed due to Pull for BoA CLI

What card(s) do you recommend for me to get to properly build-up my credit? What limit should I ask for? Thanks in advanced.

Yeah, 5 years with BOA and didn't ask for CLI? Try CLI every 6 months and with no baddies...etc you're golden for BOA.

However, like all cards, BOA likes to see usage. I could be wrong but I get CLI every few months with my ''much usage'' and ''go to'' card, BOA that is.
With BOA being the only card you have, I assume, all your bills are paid with that card. Try other ''primes'' as well, like what hayhay has said...........

Re: What CC do you recommend I should get?

So best route would be to ask for a CLI on my current BoA CC and then apply for other cards? Won't that give me a HP if I ask for a CLI through BoA? Aren't HP's better used for applying for new CC's that way the hit to your credit score is worth it?

The BOA TU-HP would be worth it if they give you what you want...(>5k). Other lenders may look at your ''high credit limit'' and would follow suit or compete. So higher limits begets higher limits. Some companies like AMEX will give you 5k right off the bat, but that varies. So to speak, if you just cold apply for other primevilles, you may be given a low limit or what you don't deserve, something like that. It's still speculation on your side, regardless. I could be wrong. You may still get lucky by using your HP for new cards, ignoring BOA....... Good luck-!!!!

The good thing with this is if you ask for a CLI with BoA, it will most likely be TU report. Then say if you apply for AMEX, they are almost exclusively EX, so they won't see the HP on the TU account. They will only see the say $5,000 CL on your Experian report. It's all in the way you maganage your credit and present your reports to the lenders.

Re: What CC do you recommend I should get?

OK, just got a CLI approved from BoA from 700 to 2700. I did request for 5000 like suggested but was only approved for 2700 which is good enough for me because its way better than the measly $700 I had.

Dammit I already did my daily pull from EIDT earlier now I cant see how the pull from BoA impacted my score.

Congrats on your CLI, you won't see the impact on your score right away and typically it takes about 1-2 days before any CRAs to update.
