Not sure if there are any previous threads on this subject, so if so please link them. My question is for you personally, at what credit limit did Amex request income verification? From reading through the Amex 3XCLI guide thread, I know there is no magic number here and that answers will vary greatly by profile.
For those willing to provide an answer to this question, it would also be extremely helpful I believe if you were to provide any other potentially useful data points that you're comfortable sharing such as income, DTI or anything else you feel mattered in your profile that yielded the income verification at the point when you experienced it.
Thank you as always to those that contribute.
Still haven't been asked for income verification yet at 40k. I haven't been pushing it either and only requesting 5k at a time these last few times. DTI hovers around 1% across all cards. I use my amex to the tune off $750 a month on average. Credit score hovers around 775. Income is 160k+.
Thinking of next time just going for a big increase and let them ask for the 4506t just to see what they would offer me.

I have two AmEx revolvers.
The original CL on the BCP was $8000, which I was approved for in 12/2014. I was able to take advantage of 3xCLI on day 61 without problem (2/2015). 180 days later (8/2015), I initally asked for $36,000 when I was first asked for verification. I didn't want to do that, so I kept dropping the CL until I didn't have to, and that number ended up being $30,000.
I applied for my Platinum DSM in 10/2015. The initial CL on that card was $10,000. At day 181 from my last CLI (which was for the BCP), I requested a 3xCLI on this card. I was hit with request for verification, and tried to decrease the request, but when I got to 2xCLI and still had a request, I finally submitted the verification. Within a week, I was granted a 3xCLI to $30,000 on this card.
I was going to stop, but I got bored last month, so I asked for an additional $18,000 on my BCP, and was hit with verification again. I submitted again and was approved.
I don't quite understand requiring verification when you've submitted once in a calendar year, since it is based on your tax records, but I suppose it's just another hoop for AmEx.
IV request at 35k. Logged out and back in and tried 32k and was approved. This is a BCP and my only Amex card so that is my total exposure.

When you say this do you mean shoot extremely high (to the point where they requst the 4506t) and then keep backing it down until you get an approval without submitting the form, or do you mean actually submitting the form and getting the maximum CL you can achieve with income verification?

Interesting, thanks for that info. So does that mean your BCP limit is at $48k now? I too find it a bit odd that you'd have to submit the same tax records twice in the same year, but get that policy is policy.
In your opinion, was the exposure you had between two Amex accounts the reason for the second income verification?

What was your limit at when you requested the $35k? I wonder how much the amount of the increase factors into the income verification prompt... Like if you were at $15k asking for $35k verses $30k asking for $35k - I wonder if the chances of no income verification at the $30k limit are greater because you're only asking for $5k instead of $20k, or if there's an arbitrary number already pre-determined for your account based on your profile, income, spend etc set at something like $34k (as an example) for your account.

Yes, my BCP limit is $48k now. Agreed that it was odd to have to submit IV a second time, but one could surmise that this was due to the availability of a new year of tax records (I didn't file my 2015 taxes until March).
I found it interesting that I would have had to submit income verification to go from $24k to $36k in 8/2015 (thus resulting in a CL of $30k), but then I was able to secure a new card at $10k less than 2 months later (without any verification).
To answer your question, I actually think the exposure I have on BCP alone would have been enough to require IV a second time in a year. Everyone's risk profiles are different, and mine has an old BK7 (soon to age off in 6 months), despite my income (and assets, which they oddly don't request for verification).
The trend I've seen around here is $34.5K is the "limit" before they start doing POI versus the old rumor of $25K postred all over the place back in the day. Personally I didn't have a problem going from $11K to $30K with an instant approval. Now, going to 50K I did get prompted for a 4506. I tried what others had done by reducing it in 5K increments down to 35K and still got the 4506 page. I submitted it a couple of times w/o any result. So, after a few months of this I finally chatted with them online to figure out WTH the issue was with processing the form. Finally gor the new accounts # from them and called. They state I missed the stupid check box on the form right before the signature which is why they kept cancelling the request over about 6 months. Finally did it again and hit all the spots that needed to be filled out and checked off. Less than a week later the new limit was in place.
So was your new limit $50k as you requested? It does seem that many get IV requested at $35k... but there are definitely examples of people that never did and have cruised past that limit.
