What Card I should get next? Very stereotypical thread. :p

Hello gang need your help if I would benefit with getting another credit card in my portfolio of cards.

Here some info about my credit profile:

Fico 8 scores:

EX:  767  TU:  775  EQ:  786

Inquires:

EX:  7 (three in June 2016, two from Chase and one from AMEX, one July 2016 Blispay)  TU:  0  EQ:  4

AAOA:  6.7 years (bunch of student loans PIF and also I am an AU on my dad's credit card from 1994).

No Negative information, clean, perfect.

This is what I currently have:

*Community First Credit Union of Florida Visa Platinum $12.5k limit:  Basic credit card with 8.15% APR, don't need to use it and my Credit Union won't close this account if I don't use this card (due to my membership with them).  Got this card last year.

*TD Bank Cash Visa Signature $12.5k limit:  Semi-sucks, not really using it, but want to keep the tradeline open and also I added two of my friends as an AU to help build their credit.  However, this is my only card that is No FTF, could be useful if I have to leave the country (but I don't travel outside the US for the most part).  Got this card Jan 16.

*AMEX BCE $18.5k limit:  Enough said, AMEX card and its cash back program.  3% groceries, 2% cash, 2% department stores, also AMEX offers and I am using this card for Electronics that I feel need an extended warranty.  Got this card last month with Instant Approval, highest limit card. Also like AMEX customer service.  0% promo for 12 months.

*Chase Freedom Unlimited Visa Signature $9k limit:  Got it last month, took them a week to approve me for $7.5k but I was an idiot and ask for a HP and they bump me to $9k a week after getting the card.  1.5% cash back blah blah blah.  0% promo for 15 months.

*Blispay Visa $7.5k limit:  2% is nice but I look at this card for the six month 0% financing when I am too lazy to pay a purchase upfront.  Right now I really don't need the card ATM since I have two 0% promo cards but I want to have it ready to go once those cards are out of their promo periods. I think this card is unique and a good to have.

I don't really travel, maybe one-twice a year.  I prefer cash back since I am not a traveler.  My spend is mostly dining out, video games, nerd stuff, getting fat with my friends on the weekend playing a lot of video games, game stores, nerd purchases, etc.  Also, Walmart and other random places.  With the current cards that I have, is there something else out there that can fit the gap on trying to gain more cash back rewards?  Of course you don't want to have too many cards to prevent water down your points, at least that is what I believe. Keep in mind ATM I am using my AMEX and Chase cards. If I have my way I would use AMEX but their charge cards is more aim for travelers, which I am not. Keep in mind I am a "deadbeat,"  I PIF my cards in full unless I am in a 0% APR period.

Thank you!

Are you opposed to an annual fee card?

Though it looks like you've got everything pretty well covered, I would say probably Discover IT.  I like the rotating 5% categories because they shake me up from my usual card habits whenever one is more beneficial than my current card.  Or maybe Chase Freedom to combine with your unlimited to stockpile UR points.

+1

I agree that it would seem the OP's needs are being met by his/her current lineup, but if someone were to 'twist my arm' and ask what I would add next if I had to pick something it would be Discover, and for the reasons listed by Friarchuck.  Smiley Wink

Since you're just about to be 5/24, CSP, meet 4k/3months, get up to 55k points, worth $550 in cashback to your bank, or $687.5 if redeemed for travel.

I feel like your credit card usage is much like me. I'm all about the rewards and maximizing my cashback.

Since you have the Freedom Unlimited, I'd say get the regular Freedom and also a Discover IT

Unlimited the covers your "nerd" purchases, 1.5% back on all of them is good, but there are also a lot of essential spending that you would need.

How about eating when you and your friends are playing video games. How about driving to Gamestop to purchase your games?

The rotating categories for Freedom and Discover covers your for 3 quarters out of 4, which is pretty damn good.

However, since you have so many inquiries, are you under the 5/24 rule with Chase?

Update on my credit cards:

I just got approved today for Blispay Visa with $7.5k limit, I'll take that limit since it is normally the amount I get approved for on cards as of late.

Time to answer your questions:

Q:  Are you opposed to an annual fee card?
A:  Yes, because I feel I won't get enough rewards to get my return on the AF.

Q:  Freedom/Discover IT rotating 5%?
A:  I am more of a "set it and forget it" type of guy, so that's why I went with the FU and not the regular Freedom.  Call me a dumb-dumb I guess.

Q:  5/24?
A:  With the Blispay approval, yep I am on 5/24 as of today.

Q:  CSP?
A:  My spending isn't high enough to get that 55k UR points.  Plus I look it at more of a traveler's cards.

Thanks for your feedback guys at this time.  I was looking at the Marvel but the weak sign-on bonus isn't close to the FU 1.5% cash back/$150 cash back offer.

You can't spend $4k in 3 months? You have the same profile limits and even similar  INQ as me. How did you get those limits if you can't afford $4000 in 3 months? Just curious since they usually don't just hand them out for small change.

Also, at 7 inquires I'd probably slow my roll now. That's what I'm doing as well.

I can spend $4k in 3 months but I wouldn't save any money.  Not a good idea for myself to be honest. :/

When I apply and get approved I get these high limits.   I guess the banks like me but I am not stupid.  I just want to take advantage on what is out there and use them for my benefit.

$4K spend in 3 months is generally doable for most people if you put bills and reoccuring charges.. For example: your internet bill, cell phone bill, Netflix, dollars have club etc etc
