Yesterday evening I was booking a flight on Southwest and an offer popped up for their credit card. i thought, well, why not?? I applied and got a response of, we will notify you in 7-10 days. So, that kind of scared me, especially since I just got a Freedom Card from Chase, in the last month. I thought, ok, they aren't gonig to approve me.
So, I call this morning, and yes, I am approved. She said it was instant approval, but I wasn't told that, yes, I am confused. And even more when she told me that I have 100,000 points and $100.00 of first statement. What??? I thought it was for 25,000 points. So now, I am really confused. What card did I get? And how in the world did it go from 25,000 points to 100,000 point. I asked her three times, "is this the Chase Southwest Card", and three times she told me yes.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? I would appreciate any input, as I am shocked, in a good way, but still shocked. I am having all I can do from doing a happy dnce, lol. Is this for real, or will the bubble be burst at some point? And darn, I wish I had asked her what CRA they used. Anybody know? Thanks, ya'll.
I live in Texas and back in 2010 they pulled TU for me for this card.
I always keep an eye out for SWA Visa info.
I've never heard of a 100k offer, as that would be several "wanna get away" trips.
Not to say that it is an impossibility, I would just like to learn more about it. So when you get the 411, please share.
Yes, I agree. Very shocked!!! I will definitely let you know. I won't wait for mail either. I will be calling them back later today when I have more time, but hmnn...maybe I should wait and see what it says. Don't want to jink anything if it is really that much, ya know???
Thanks, good info. Appreciate it.
I applied and was approved for the SWA RR Premier Visa on 5/14/12. They pulled EXP.

This card has actually been giving me trouble!! Like you I was booking a flight and saw the 50,000 point offer so I app'd and was instantly approved and I thought "great 2 free RT flights!!!". I get my card about a week later and about an hour after activating it I got an email saying something along the lines of " Get started on your vacation today with you 10,000 free points" I also noticed I had a $100 statement credit. I was upset because 10k points and a 100 statement credit is worse than 50k points which for a 'wanna get away fare' equates to about $850. I immediately called and spoke with a CS rep who was nice and explained that in lieu of the other 40,000 points they gave me the $100 credit but that with my permission she could reverse the credit and give me the 40,000 points. I said of course because that is the way better deal and I hung up. After a day I didn't see the $100 dollar credit reversed so I called again, another CS rep told me the same thing about with my permission shell reverse the $100 statement credit and give me 40,000 which I said yes of course and I even explained I had the same conversation the other day so then I asked if she could send me something in writing about what we had done. She did and the other day I received a letter on Chase letterhead detailing how I asked for a reversal of the statement credit for 40,000 rapid reward points. No points have hit my southwest account because it takes a statement or 2 for them to carry over but there better be 50,000 when they do hahaha
Well, that is bizarre, and gives me little faith that what I was told about the 100,000 points is accurate. I didn't have time to call yesterday but I will be calling later this am. I really don't have much faith that I will get 100,000 points. We'll see.
IMHO the CSR you spoke with needs new glasses to read from his/her card.
I haven't had any problems with the SW Visa. I put one purchase of $19.43 on 5/7 the statement cut with a billing period of 5/1-5/22. On the first page it states 50,000 points plus 20 (for the purchase thought it was interesting points round up). It said total of 50,020 points sent to Southwest. They haven't appeared in my RR account but it sounds ilke chase sent them ![]()
