2007 - Old Navy - $127 limit was useless (my first credit card btw.)
2007 - American Express Platinum - back then it was much more difficult to get approved for Amex revolvers with a thin file so I applied for highest fee charge card (and got approved) with the plan of applying for a revolving Amex at latter date and then backdating it.
I haven't closed very many cards. I did close two last year:
Home Depot- Reason being that I only got it when we moved into a new house 3 years ago and wanted to build a fence. Well it turned out we couldn't do what we wanted per the city so we decided against a fence. I really had no use for it other than a couple of items here and there and they offered no real rewards with the card. Only interest free financing on purchases over $200. No thank you.
Cap One QS- Thought long and hard about this one. I got a Citi DC last year plus I have a FU. I felt it was redundant and I wanted to cut my cards down some. It was one of my younger cards so it didn't really effect my AAoA that much. I had reached my max with them CL wise so bye bye. Sometimes I miss it. It wasn't a bad card at all.

I closed my Paypal MasterCard because it had a paltry $300 limit and a 29% APR (not that I carried balances on it).
I had much better cards in my wallet.
I have closed the Amex Green, Gold, and Platinum because I got them in college and didn't spend enough to justify them. I closed the Barclay aviator cars because I had the Citi AAdvanatge card. Just wanted to swoop in on 50,000 points after first purchase and waived annual fee. I closed My Barclay World MasterCard because they sliced my limit a couple years ago.
Thank you all that participated. I am just looking for some reasons to close more cards this year.
I was hoping that @UncleB or @K-in-Boston would chime in![]()

Most interesting fact about my closed cards ....
Chase Amazon Prime still reporting as open on Eq😳🤯🥴😏💳😎🙋♂️
In 2017 I purged a number of cards I wasn’t using:
1. Amex Green Card
2. Amex Blue Cash Everyday
3. Citi Simplicity
4. PenFed Platinum Rewards
5. Exxon (my oldest card, received in 1974)
6. Macy’s
7. Bloomingdale’s
8. Lord and Taylor
9. Nieman Marcus
Why keep them if you don’t use them?
After the purge, I had six cards. I added one a few months later. I’ve had the same seven cards for the last two and a half years. I may purge two of them this year.
Just closed via secure message my NFCU Flagship which was coming up for renewal in two days. Also closed my Choice Priveleges Barclays. Didn't feel like paying AF on NFCU card and Barclays was just taking up space.
And I just discovered I can't access Credit Karma from Thailand. Still getting the alerts but can't log in. Guess I'll have to wait until I'm back in the states on Saturday.

All accounts were closed on good terms and I do not have any regrets 👍.
