That's odd. I'd say it's either because the card is new or because of the payment amount. Can you call/chat and see what's going on?
I agree its a bit unusual. My Cap One accounts always update to reflect the payment the next business day, unless its a friday or saturday.
OP, have the funds already been taken out of your bank account? Do you push the payments using your bank accounts bill pay or do you pull the payments using Cap One's account management page?

I can honestly say that this has happened to me before. Whereas there was sooooo much of a lag, that a payment overdrew my account (I know, I know. I should be a better banker but I digress) I have found that if I go directly to a Cap 1 banking center during the week, it will post the next day. If I make an immediate payment during the week, it will post the business next day also.
Now, if I do a bill payment or set up a date for a payment to be taken out of my account on "said" date, it has taken sometimes 4 days, enve if the payment was for today or during the week. Tthe payment will not clear my bank until the next business day and then after the 3-4 day period, it will show that the payment posted on the Cap 1 site on the correct day that I made the payment. It just takes the system a while to catch up.
Weird. I know. With Cap 1 only, I do not do auto-drafts as they will be the death of me. I actually pay the same day using my debit card or I drive over to a branch and make the stupid payment. Who has the time to time each of their payments, especially since I have two different accounts that I pay at least 3 times a month? Pffft. - That's for the birds.....
I hope this is helpfu;

Looking at my QS account......
Available Credit: $0.00
Credit Line: $2,000Last Statement Balance: $160.47 (as of May 19, 2016)
Last Payment: $1,626.72 (posted May 18, 2016)
I noticed this would happen to me when I first received my cards. Luckily I did not need to use the card so I stop stressing over it & just made sure I made my payments weeks before due date. I recently notice after having my cards for 7 months the payments now post within 1 day. I also used the same bank account to make my payments from so that might be the reason.
"Back in the day" when my QS MasterCard was still Orchard/HSBC they would routinely put holds on my payments when I made them using their website, and I'm not talking just a few days, either. Once my payment was nearly my entire credit limit ($700) and the hold was for 12 days. ![]()
(FWIW I was never late or bounced a payment, either... this was just 'business as usual' for them.)
After that I started making all the payments from my own bank's bill pay, and there was never a hold again. Now that I have larger limits my payments never get held regardless of how I pay (ironically if they were to hold a payment now it wouldn't impact me).
Due to my experience back then I still tend to 'push' the majority of my payments from my own checking unless I'm running close to a due date. It does take an extra couple of days to post, but I like the extra control it gives me.
This being said, a quick chat with a Capital One CSR should tell you where you stand if not clear up the situation completely... in either case, let us know how it goes! ![]()
No problem. They have a period of inbetween due date and statemet closing. You're just stuck in the middle of that. They will let you know when you payment posts and it usually does the same night. Just takes them a bit for you next statement to cut. ![]()
