Congrats...slow and steady. It is amazing what can be achieved in 1 year of positive attention versus years of not knowing what to do or feeling hopeless.
Congrats!! I, also, started my credit journey recently (Feb 2015) and it's not easy but can be done! My starting scores were 580 range. Knowledge is power and I wouldn't have been able to do it without these forums! Now if I could reach my goal of 750 across the board, I'd be more than happy
Congrats. Great job. Hopefully in another year you'll be well into the 700s.
I'm jealous, Capital One has been a lot better to you than to me ![]()
Congratulations!!!! You really have had a terrific year! Great job!
This year has been wonderful for me, too. This time last year, the only cards I had were a $1000 Wells Fargo Platinum Visa and a $3000 Capital One Platinum MasterCard (which, this time last year, I had only had for a few weeks). If you had told me a year ago that a year from now, I'd be in with Chase, Bank of America, Citi, and U.S. Bank, I would have said you had slipped too much Bailey's in your coffee. Now I have 13 cards, all in my sig. Next year is not going to be nearly as exciting though -- I am going to be gardening through most of it! ![]()
Congrats on your fantastic progress!
I agree that a year can make all the difference in the world. This time last year, I had my QS1 with a small limit, and a tiny Belk and Lowe's - and that's it.
If someone had told me this time last year that I'd have accounts with USAA, Discover and Amex (especially Amex!) I would have laughed them from the room.
Keep up the good work! ![]()
@KyWoman wrote:In October 2014, my FICO score was a sad 589. I went for the Capital One secured card. Took care of it, added additonal deposits, paid it off in full every month. A few months later, needing some dental work, I applied for Care Credit and was approved for a measly $800 but it was a start! Next I tried Overstock - approved for $700 - again low CL but I kept building and paying in full, on time, every month. Today my score is 690 and I have a total credit line of $22,600: Discover: $7500, Macy's $5900, Cap One QS - $5500, Amazon - $1200, Chase Freedom - $1000, Overstock - $700, CareCredit - $800. Utilization at 9%. I'm getting automatic CLI (thanks Discover!) and additional upon request (thanks Macy's!). Just wanting to throw a little hope out there to those who are rebuilding - it can be done!!
This time last year, I was waiting for my first report to be clean, experian. Started with cap one 300, CU at 500, and a since closed rebuilder at 1250. My later October approval was Amex BCE, 3500. Since then, have accumulated quite a bit, transunion cleaned in November 2014, and EQ cleaned January 1st 2015. Now my credit score is my precious.. Congrats to all on their credit journeys.
You have done an amazing job! Be proud of yourself and keep going. Make sure you rotate use of those cc's for now, so you get get use every 3 months. When you're trying push 700, every bit helps. When I was just about to push 700 it seemed like it took forever. I would get so close but couldn't seem to eek out the last point or two. Oh, how I was impatient. Once I did, though; it seemed to go a lot faster. (Not fast, just faster!) lol
