What are the best options for approvals?

i'm in the process of rebuilding my credit, well more so continuing to rebuild but I don't know which cards are the best option for me in regards to approval. I've been reading through all the different approval post and while some seem pretty clear for my situation (like Barclay, who I did get approval for last week) others are not so clear. So I'm hoping perhaps some of the experienced can share some knowledge on which ones I should set my sights on next? Heres a brief synopsis of my situation:

Bankruptcy chap7 Discharged 10/2010

Tax lien (state) - Paid 2014

2 collection accounts - Paid in full 2014 ( working on getting these removed due to I was advised it was a PFD situation but they have yet to delete them)

Current Credit Cards

Cap one Quicksilverone

Cap one platinum

Cap one platinum

Cap one platinum

Barclays rewards

Merrick Bank

Credit one

Old navy

Walmart

My last credit scores were EQ 646 Tran 656 EX 669 give or take some points now since I applied for a couple cards since then

I recently applied for the DiscoverIT-declined due to bankruptcy

Thanks in advance Smiley Happy

Let's get some more information. Like how old are the cards you have? When did you app for them? How many Inquiries do you have right now? Are the scores listed FICO or FAKO and what kind of cards are you interested in? Cash back? Travel?

My 2 cents with the information you provided... Garden. 1-2 years. You have a fair amount of TLs and you're battling a dispute so you may want to wait to app until that falls off.

I'm surprised you were denied for a Discover card, I got mine beginning of this year (BK7 2011).  You didnt mention what you need more cards for?  You seem to have a decent line up.  At this point I would garden to get your scores up.

Re: What are the best options for approvals?

I would stop applying for at least 6 months.

Int he mean time you could contact Cap1 EO through Facebook about getting ALL your cards PC to Quicksilver or Venture and remove AF

I would personally close Credit One because of the monthly fee, you only need 3 accounts for best fico scoring during rebuilding so you don't need it unless your util. isn't very good and it's balancing it out.

Eh I rather cancel that card and not pay the monthly fees and take the short term util% hit and bring down the balances a month or 2 too below 30%

Re: What are the best options for approvals?

You have quite a bit of cards now. I would focus on maintaining these and building the CL's and then possibly apply for a prime card in 6-12 months if utilization is low and there are no additonal negative info on your reports. That is what I am doing at the moment and I have already seen a 40 point jump.

I usually see Creditaddict encouraging people to apply. In this case is the other way around. I sure listen and follow the advice.

Re: What are the best options for approvals?

I also agree with waiting to app for at least 6 mths to a year. I am also rebuilding. I only have 1 unsecured cc and 2 retail cc an 2 secured cc. I don't plan to app for anything anytime soon. I think once you garden for a while you can get prime cc and reward cc that for your lifestyle. Good luck!
