Last card goal is to really decide if all these cards are earning their paychecks. On a card by card basis, I do get the value back. But I know I'm paying for duplicates benefits - and that's not prudent (even though I'm still in the black).
LOL ...
You're funny!
Will you be here all week?
Sounds like a good plan, if you manage to stick-to-it which is easier said than done, right?
I don't know your spend and travel but that does look like a lot of AF cards!
AMEX PLAT - $550
AMEX GOLD - $250
AMEX GREEN - $150
AMEX Hilton Aspire - $450
AMEX Delta PLAT - $195 (going to $250)
Chase United Mileage Plus - $95
CITI AA Platinum Select - $99
plus is there a fee on the AMEX Marriott?
Did I miss any?
And why the duplicate AMEX Hiltons??
Just curious.
Either way, looks like at least $1789 in fees ...ouch!
Definitely time to close the subprimes too. Good idea.
Marriott has $95 AF, but free night certificate (which I'm using in a couple of weeks).
Lots of AF, but I'm exceeding the fees in my perceived (or real) value (I check a lot of bags...a lot... and do use the credits/free nights/companion certs/etc.).
The No AF Hilton was because grocery is my biggest spend and Hilton is my preferred hotel so I was racking up Hilton points with it. I've now migrated to using the Gold (4x grocery=8 Hilton vs 5 on the no AF Hilton card). But No AF is there and aging and that's probably the biggest benefit now. So I'm not in a huge rush to close it.
The Aspire is for all my Hilton stays.
We shall see where the shakeout lands. Gardening will be the biggest challenge LOL.
I'm having a tough decision on what to do since I'm 4/24 at this point and need to buy a new computer.
1) Open a AMEX ED and pop the 1,000 SUB on the laptop. This would give me a lot of points for the SUB plus I can set the card up with Rakuten and get a second huge bonus with that. If I do this it will put me in 5/24 jail for 15 months.
2) Spend off the remaining 3x bonus on my CFU. However I only have like 500 dollars left here with 4 months to go. It doesn't seem like its worth prepaying 3x out on. If I was 2,000-3,000 out on the SUB then yes. The computer I think will be in the $750-$900 dollar range.
3) Stick it on my Samsung store card and pay 0% APR for 24 months. It might actually make the most sense and good on the cash flow.
I am also in the new car boat. Gardening till the scores go up. Thinking an Amex or CFU once the double points for Disco are over.
@recoveringfrombk7 wrote:Mostly I need to get a new car before I exit the garden. I'm planning to cancel my current Ollo card in October and hope that I still remain attractive (~700ish) due to BK-suppressed scores. They don't seem to be offering the card to folks who would PIF.
I am going to try for the US Bank Cash plus in the next couple of weeks (once all my current cards post since last month they were showing a bit higher due to chrismas purchaes). I spend about $700 between cable/internet and cell phones so the 5% back on those would be nice. Also, I don't have a Visa (just Amex, MC and Disco) and I buy all my meat at Costco which only takes Visa or Debt cards. Even if all I get is 1%, it's more than I get now. I'm just hoping my BK13 (over 5 years since filing date) doesn't get in the way.
After that, I might go with something like the Paypal MC just to replace my QS that I only use for stuff that doesn't get good cash back anywhere else (2% beats 1.5)
If I wasn't in the garden (link in siggy for goals), I'd definitely app for the BofA Premium Rewards and CS Platinum. The Apple Card and CareCredit would be on my short-list.

- Goal: Chase Biz Quinfecta in 2P mode, 2 CICs, 2 CIUs, 1 CIP
Wow, that's some detailed, specific, and complicated plans!
Good job plotting that out.
Some of it left me curious. Like why all the Chase Biz cards??
But you don't have CSR/CSP to magnify UR points with them??
Or do you?
You'd get 25% or 50% bump with one of those.
I got 80K UR point SUB on CIP, PC'd it to no-AF CIC where I get 7.5% in URs on my CSR for travel.
I guess you and DH have enough Biz travel to dabble in Chase, BoA, and AMEX? Seems like a lot of systems and cards to me but DW doesn't travel and much of my travel spend is paid employer-direct.
Haha! Thanks! It is actually a very tentative plan. The MR cards will likely not start until later this year.
They are Biz cards because I need to stay under 5/24 and I am already at 4/24. That's also why if a card I want is a personal card DH will app for it. You are right about CSR and I seriously debated if DH should app for CSR while the AF was still at $450. I eventually decided against because our planned travel this year and early next likely does not need the boosting power of CSR. I do think at some point we will get It, but not yet.
Between DH and I, we have 3 to 4 side gigs that can qualify as "business" by credit card standard. I teach piano lessons, tutor math, DH occasionally does translating work, and once he finishes his residency he might start his own practice and we are renting out a room in our house to a grad student. Truth be told, the only one that currently has a real income is the rented room and we only just started. But still a lot of expenses we have can be somehow tied to those "businesses".
4/24 but with a long list of cards I would like to attain.
Will be purchasing a new build house later this year so I may get one or 2 CIP + CIU before that (2 player mode). Perhaps another business card at the same time. After purchasing the house, will look into a Barclays airline card, BofA Alaska Business, Citibank AA business, and upgrade the CSP to CSR in November.
I will be 3/24 by 1/2021 so will not be adding any personal cards until then. Perhaps go for a SW CP with a personal + biz card if the SUBs are high enough to qualify then or a WOH card. Not too interested in the CF categories and the CIU replaces the CFU for general spend.
Cards of interest are all the big players in the bonus categories:
US Bank Cash+
BBVA Clearpoint
BofA Business Travel
BofA Cash
etc. however staying below 5/24 is more important for me so I don't see applying for any of those until 8/21 which my plan might deviate by then but they are all on a spreadsheet.
Perhaps one day AMEX will forgive me and I will start looking into their cards but not today my friend.
