What can I do about this....

I called one of my CC to inquire about the date of my last request for a CLI, the guy told me it was just this past January and wanted to know if I wanted to see if I could get an increase. I said no, I'll wait awhile. I get home today and found a denial letter for a CLI from this CC. I didn't request the increase but I bet they did a SP. what recourse do I have for this because I did not request this and this will be an inq on my report? Monica

I think you meant to say that you think they did a HP.

I would call the backdoor number for a higher up person

Something similar happened to me when I called for a CLI. I explicitly said I don't want a HP, and I was assured that it will be a SP. Checked my report a week later then saw a HP. Called the backdoor number to the Executive office. Talked to someone. They investigated, then next day they said they'll recode it as a SP because the rep did indeed tell me it was a SP(I'm guessing through phone recording) Checked my report again a few weeks later and the HP is gone

I had something similar too and was able to have the bank recode it as a SP

Re: What can I do about this....

Thanks for the replies. I called them about this and ended up speaking to a manager. He said it wasn't even a soft pull because if it's denied, it will not go anywhere. So According to him, it will not be reported as even an inquiry. He did say that the representative was definitely wrong in running it when I didn't request it and that he'll definitely deal with him about that. Thank you guys for your help. Love this forum, though I am getting a tad bit obsessed, according to my husband.
