I have the CSR and Freedom Unlimited in my wallet right now.
I am trying to really just go strictly for UR, so non category (gas and groceries) do you all stick with the Freedom Unlimited? Or other cards?
I know that the freedom is 5% rotating, but if you have the two listed above do you go for a different card/bank or what for gas and grocery.
One of (depending on where/what I am buying): CSR (travel/dining), Freedom (revolving), Discover IT (revolving), Amex BCP (groceries/gas/dept. store) or USAA Limitless (everything else).
Do you think it would be smart to get a card that covers gas n grocery? Doesnt the AMEX BCP do 6% back on all gas n grocery?
The reason I ask is because I have the Discover it, but doesnt the BCP get MR rather than actual "cash back"?
If I qualified, I'd definitely say USAA Limitless or Alliant's 3%/2.5% card for non-category spend. Can't beat either of those.
My "best" card right now is Discover during the first year which is 2% on everything, 4% on a few categories and I'm happy running all my spend through there. Hopefully next year I can get the CSR just for some European flights I do 4ish trips a year but URs are otherwise useless to me because there are better cashback options elsewhere.
BCP would be a good Gorcery/Gas card in addtiion to the other catagories if you use them.
Sam's (5% Gas) / BOA (3% Gas)
It depends on if it's worthwhile to take the hit on your scores and if your spend is enough to make up for any potential AF depending on your choice. Sure, 5% back on gas is nice if you're spending say $50/wk to make up for a fee. 6% on groceries w/ BCP is the highest I've seen from multiple lenders and if you can manage 100/mo it's easy to make up for the $95 AF (1200*0.06=108).
Whenever they don't fall into my freedom 5% categories....I use the Amex BCE for groceries for 3% and BofA cash rewards for gas for 3% (or more if you are a preferred member).
Both solid cards that that I have in my line up that adds value for those two categories and don't carry an Annual Fee to keep.
I use my CSR for everything pretty much. I was using my SPG but I met the min spend but I plan on using the points from it to transfer to partners anyways so now I am back to my CSR.
