In my original post, I should have given my reasoning for using JetBlue Plus for groceries. It gives me double points on grocery and restaurant purchases, and that includes fast food (which, thankfully we've cut way down on!). It's my only current card that gives me double anything, plus I am trying to build up points on top of the 30,000 point bonus I already earned. Someday, if I get the Golden1 Platinum Visa, I will probably use it since it gives 3% cashback on gas, groceries, and restaurants, not including fast food. ![]()

Kdm31091 - Target is actually coded as a grocery store for Visa I'm not sure of Amex. I know because I use my BOA Cash Rewards Card there for the 2% CB plus 10% bonus for depositing into checking. Someday I'll get to Amex and get those better rewards!
My BOA used to card Target as grocery but now it is "discount store"; oh well.
I'm currently using Sallie Mae, but when the current reward structure goes extint in the coming weeks, I'm going to use my Bank of the West Cash Back card for 3% back on grocery spend.
I use my BofA Cash Rewards for groceries. It is 2% plus an additional 10% bonus when I redeem the rewards to my BofA checking account. It is effectively a 2.2% grocery card. I do not have a ton of grocery spend so I do not come anywhere near the $2500 (combined with gasoline) maximum each quarter. Next quarter, I will be using my Chase Freedom for 5% cash back ![]()
I just converted my Freedom Unlimited card back to the original Freedom card. I noticed that not only groceries were 5% next quarter, but also drug stores. I figure that this one grocery quarter is more important than a year's worth of 1.5% that I'm not using.

CO_Native just a heads up that even though Target may be coded as a grocery store for Visa Chase has added it as an exclusion to their 5%.
5 Does not include purchases made at Walmart®, Target®, discount or warehouse club stores. You will still earn unlimited 1% cash back on these purchases.
Correct. Thank you for the reminder. I typically shop at a Kroger store so I am covered. Interestingly, when I use BofA at certain registers at Walmart, it qualifies for the 2% But to your point, Chase explicitly points out that Target, Walmart and warehouse stores are excluded.

Even if your Target/Walmart codes as grocery, Chase is saying they will explicitly exclude it from the bonus rewards. BOA just doesn't bother -- if it codes as grocery you get the extra rewards.
