What do creditors see on a soft pull?

I got a pre-approval for US Bank Platinum Visa card in the mail and trying to understand why...I've been banking with them for 4yrs and never got one until now. I app'd for a credit card from them when I opened my accounts but got declined due to BK. I now know from reading in this forum that they are not BK friendly, but I'd really like to get a credit card from them since that is where I bank. My BK is now 7yrs old, but I'm afraid to respond to the invite. Do they not see I have a BK on a soft pull? What info do they get with a soft pull?

Before you apply again, you should make sure your BK has been dropped on whichever report US Banks will pull.

From my understanding, as far as info on CR goes, soft pull is the same as hard pull except that soft pull doesnt show all the account reviews or request views (like credit monitor service) by you and for your personal review of credit.

I dunno, but I'll give a novice's 2 cents. They can see everything ( I think) and can see enough to score off the inquiries, accounts, account history, util, AAoA, etc. Basically, everything on your FICO report they can see. For example, I am a borrower with Lending Club. When I applied, LC did a soft pull only on TU and was able to tell me my TU FICO score (they pull TU98 and it matched here). I'm also a lender on LC. As a lender, I can see the borrower's TU FICO and through that soft pull, I can see a summary of when the last late was, util, balances (summary only), etc.

It's possible that US Bank subscribed and looks at the scores only. I don't know. Maybe they are soft on an old BK?

They can see very little. Here's an example of a soft pull from another board:

A soft inquiry from an existing creditor for AR (Account Review) sees everything except other soft inquiries. That information is scorable.

A soft inquiry for promotional purposes is different. They don't normally look at a report. They simply pay the CRA to give them a file with names and addresses of potential customers that meet their set of requirements. It may have some additional info.

+1

This makes the most sense to me, I agree with GregB.
