What does this mean on CLI denial?

So, the last few times Ive tried for a CLI on my Comenity cards, Ive received this response in the SP "letter".....

"Unfortunately, because your credit history with other credit grantors could not be obtained, we are unwilling to increase the credit limit on your account at this time".

WTH does that mean? Im confused because everyone is reporting, and Im showing "payment history" on every single CC I have every month.

Thoughts?

Are your reports frozen? Maybe Comenity does a hard pull (or tried doing a hard pull) and wasn't successful? You can check with them if that's the new policy!

Any info that changed on your CRs? Any mistakes that should be cleared?

My thought exactly. However if the CLIs are SP then an existing lender shouldn't have a problem.

They listed that as a reason for my CLI denial as well.  I think they reach into a jar and pull out the first reason that they can find.  Kind of like a fortune cookie for denials.  They have to say something.

This, or maybe Comenity is using an old SP from before all current creditors extended/reported credit?

I'd imagine that's the dark side of SP CLI's - no telling how old the pull is, and you can't really argue for the most up-to-date pull since it's likely considered a courtesy and the pull itself is not impacting your credit profile.

Smiley Very Happy Maybe they saw 83 inquiries and thought, well that must not be right. Hey pizza, we can't find your credit report !

Hmmm, that is strange.  I have no clue what it means.  Perhaps they are "testing" new reasons for denial.Smiley Wink:
