Just some quick background info: my girlfriend's mother added her as an authorized user to one of her credit cards. It's an old credit card (around 10 years old maybe?) with great history. It instantly shot my girlfriend's credit score up to 760+ (she has very little of her own credit history - her only credit card is just over a year old). Now this is great right now, but we were wondering what happens if/when she is removed as an AU on the card. Does it still take the normal time frame of 7 years or so to be removed from her credit score? Or is it a shorter time frame since she is just an AU and not the actual cardholder?
Thanks for the help
Shortly after she is removed as an AU on her mother's card, it will disappear from her credit reports, along with its positive effects on her score.
Thanks for the info, Lel. We just want to be prepared in case her mom falls behind on payments on this card. Hopefully, this won't happen. But bad things happen.
Thanks again!
FYI: My husband was angry with me so inturn he decided to remove me from his BOFA card - he called Bofa on Monday of last week and removed me as the AU. Guess What? It was off EX by Wed and gone from TU this Monday! Now when I found out about it, I asked him to please put me back on and he said he did....still waiting!
So, I think it takes just a few short days to be removed and about one to two billing cycles to be added! At least that is my experience.
Sorry to hear about your situation, daisyduke, but I appreciate you sharing the time frame information with me! Hope everything works out for you.
