Keep in mind that there's a difference between a 670 Fico 8 on a thin, clean file with new accounts and a 670 Fico 8 on an aged file with negative datapoints. Fico scores are simply a barometer number of presumed credit worthiness. Internally, lenders see the aggregate data and are all over the map on how this affects their approval factors, even being 5 years ago.

I was in your boat not too long ago. Reach out to Capital One and Discover for secured card options and build from there. You might have a chance at getting approved for a Cap One Platinum or Quick Silver One also at your current score.

OP, credit unions would be a good way to go. I got in Navy 3 years ago with some old credit problems and a similar score to yours. Now have 80k in CL across 3 cards plus a 15k CLOC.
AMEX Gold and Green NPSL, BCE $2200, Schwab Investor Card sl $10800. The Amex cards cost one hard pull for all of them.I also have the Verizon Sinature visa 6k, Commenity Rewards 7.6k and the Navy Flagship 20K sl. I have several others in that 2-4K range. My exp fico
8 was in the 669-671 range with Equ an Trans minor variations
My newest derogatory is 5 years old, not so much as one late payment since.
where do I go to apply for all Amex cards in one place with only one inquiry? Sounds really good to me to open multiple credit cards with only one credit pull.
Weren't you about to go through a mortgage if I recall your user name correctly?

You have to cold app one of the easier to get cobranded cards liKE the Delta gold. If you get that then put some spend on it for a few weeks and then go to your home internet page and click on cards. Pick the card you want and click apply. If it says "your name " has been pre approvd get a decision in 30s you have a great chance just follow through with the app. If the verbiage is something like it's easy to expand your membership it's probably a denial. Either way there is USUALLY not a hard pull but YMMV
Credit Curiosity yes I'm making my plan on what card to get for when escrow closes so that way I can finance some home improvements for 3-6 months since all my savings is going towards a hefty down payment, that way charging things won't cause a high utilization tanking my scores and I want cards long term to build upon what I have. I regret getting the Ollo card, the Capital One Quicksilver card does not have the best customer service I had a terrible experience with them regarding an internet scam purchase, I love my Discover card but I read on one of these forums that Discover is going to all accounts and freezing them until you sign a tax release form for them to verify your income - my income is actually higher than what I put on my Discover application but the problem is I included all my household income that's fully documented like child support but if your taxable income does not match then they will close your account regardless of your proof of income from non taxable sources. So, ideally I want to get some cards but my credit still isn't great (670s)
Behold my signature, everything except the car was gotten with scores below 670.
