Most lenders will strip AU accounts, because the before and after picture can be strikingly different. It's been a while since 2014.
You could try Chase and Capital One applications like your brother did, and see if you can replicate those same results.
Those members who are trying to help you today are basing their advice on what's going on in 2020.

@AverageJoesCredit wrote:2020 isnt 2014. Its going to be rare for someone to start getting huge limits right off the bat with only low limits and maybe s thin file. Scores really arent everything imo and a lender will look deeper into a report when giving out big limits. Score, history ,income, amongst other things are factored in. Yes Chase often gives big limits but usually to estsblished profile with really good income.
Im not saying you wont get someone to give a nice limit, it does happen, but it isnt generally the case. As stated , a CU like Navy can , maybe you could get lucky getting the Disco/Amex 10k+ bug but honestly you are rolling the dice. Most lenders dont want to be first to give 10k plus thats why we tske time to build are own credit profiles. Best of luck

Anyhow, there is a reason why you received toy limits during last application attempts. It's because that's all your profile currently support. Score isn't everything. AUs aren't everything. Your file is young, you probably have some inquiries racked up, and you're moving too fast. At this point, time is your best friend.
I know, I'm wrong too. I'll say it before you do.

I just want to note that my responses, probably like a few of us, were posted prior to the reconciliation. So OP, I'm happy that you're going to reconsider your actions and GL2U.
Lots of good advice here. My preference is having good cards with good banks versus just having the highest limits. Why not just apply to the card(s) you want and let them grow organically?
Generally, I recommend: Discover, Chase, Navy Federal, and U.S. Bank.
Wow!! Hey there folks !!!
Quite an interesting thread here.
While I have no intentions of adding to the wellspring of sound advice already upthread, I do think it is important to dial back the tone a little bit while trying to help some of us outsiders.
While a lot of the sages on this forum have been a part of this public space for a while, it might be a little bit intimidating for newcomers when the help sometimes sounds a tard forceful. We never know what we don't know until others help shift our paradigm but experience in my line of work is that human nature generally resists even the best of help when it is not offered in the best way.
Having been a part of this community for more than 2 years, I can attest to the noble intentions of all of the great folks on this thread but if our intention is to help the OP, then please let's just go the extra mile to help them arrive at a destination that's in their best interest, even if they don't know it yet.
And to the OP, while this might not be the line of counsel you expected, coming from someone who started building 30months ago, received a lot of help here and now has over $100k CL, you can't go wrong with these mastermind behind you.
Sincerely hope my intervention doesn't offend anyone but if it does, please accept my apologies upfront. Y'all have a fantastic day.

I get that from the reference to their historic baddies, but my comment stems from just reading the entire thread and how heated it became at some point. That kind of vibe sometimes keeps visitors from participating when they will be better served by asking questions(however obvious the answers to the questions might seem to those with more experience). Just my observation.
Anything not complying with the FSR policy of these forums would be deleted. Everyone here was and is trying to help the OP. Posters meeting sound suggestions and advice with what may be interpreted as hostility is an unfortunate common occurrence.
As the tone has changed in recent posts, let's move on.
