What I don't like about Cap 1 is that they pull all 3 CB's for 1 app !!!! That is why I will never have one of their cards

Honestly I much rather have 3 pulls at app and then it is over (CLIs with SP) compared to Chase that always double pulls for anything at anytime...LOL

They never told me they would take this money out of my poor family. They hired a rich agency Recovery out if San diego,ca
Since 1996 to get money i did not have. Capitol One are bad people. Don't trust Capitol One they steal poor peoples money
Unfortunately, creditors and providers alike can and will easily take money, whether purposely or accidentally, if you owe it.
My mom accidentally double-paid the electric company once through the phone. Since she owed the money anyway, and even though it was clearly a mistake and double-payment, they would not grant the chargeback for the second payment.
Also, I'm not sure what you deem to be "poor". You can be poor for many reasons. You can simply have a lower-end income that has a tough time meeting the costs of living in your given area, or you can make $1 million and blow it all within a week and be left with little to no money as a result. PSE&G took money just as easily from my upper-middle class family.
So there's really no discrimination based on income...if you owe it, you better be sure they will want it back somehow and someway! Even high-earners file bankruptcy, like regular low and middle class folk (how many times has Trump filed...?). However, I'm very sorry that it provided a hardship for you and your family
I think part of the hate is how fun/easy it is to call them Crap 1..
For what i read the most is if Cap 1 looks at you as a rebuilder you are pretty much always a rebuilder.. They don't grow that well..
they dont grow, have average customer service, and pull all 3 bureaus
I've read lots of complaints about Cap One, but have never experienced them myself. Most recently, with their QS and Venture, I haven't seen any difference between the way they run things vs. Chase, Amex, Citi, Discover or any of the other "Prime" lenders.
Matter of fact, Venture rewards post immediately and one can apply it even before paying your bill, unlike Chase, Amex or Discover. Payments clear quickly and CLs are instantly available. Works everywhere, no forex fee and excellent online portal.
So, from my perspective, I don't really see anything "bad" about them. Matter of fact, I like them more than most.
The hardest thing about Cap One is the very uneven service. I always seem to get different answers to the same questions every time I deal with their CSR. The last CLI, I dealt with EO and that was much better. But you shouldn't have to call the frickin CEO's office just to get something accomplished!
As far as the card itself, it's fine but nothing special. Cap One is my oldest TL (1999) and stuck with me when my credit score was "Crap 1". So like an old, grumpy married couple, Cap One and I will stick with each other through thick and thin, until our dying day!
regarding the terms of not growing i believe thats a per person basis. i started with their secured card out of chapter 7 and kept it for around a year, it helped to raise my score around 100 points. right around month 11 i apped for their platinum mastercard and was approved with a $500 limit. To date (9 months or so) i have had 1.5 cash back added to this card, lower interest rate, 4x total cli's, and the af completely removed. i do not believe its that they do not want to grow with you, i believe its more that you have to talk to the right people to make their cards right for you! For the record their cli request is good for one thing, if gives you a credit score for free!

they have grown with me more than barclay who people speak so highly of on here. the other two cards are from cu's so i hold them in a different light as one literally asked if my limit was high enough
