What is considered heavy usage?

So, I actually was hoping for a PC on my Cap1 Platinum to a QS, but have had no luck. Tried to just up the CL after 6 months of not receiving anything, and got hit with a "Recent use of this account's existing credit line has been too low". This month I've ran about $450 with $130 pending. Last month is the lowest month ever with only $100 through it, but minimum has been $300 every month with some months past $1000. For a card that is actually costing me $39 annually and no rewards, I am just thinking about cancelling it altogether, but cant at this point since it is my oldest card adn I am going for an auto loan as soon as the truck gets built, and will be looking for a home around Feb. or so.

Credit line is $3500.

try using it up to 2000 per mo. for few months, then ask for pc or credit limit increase. maybe they'll grant it.

Re: What is considered heavy usage?

I guess I'll give them a chance when my work picks up again as I am a contractor and this time is a slow time for me, but when it picks up I'll run it through and see as my jobs are sometimes pretty high in dollar amount, but I am not holding my breath on it. Could it be that they are just figuring out the results by the last 2 months? I am also not trying to put too much now on this card, since I've gotten the Discover It and it gives me nice cashbacks.

Re: What is considered heavy usage?

IMO your scores will get you better cards with rewards. I'd just go for a new one, depending on inquiries and any baddies on your reports!

Actually the scores are temporary as of right now, as I'm waiting for a judgement that was vacated to drop off the CR after disputing it. Should be easily into 700's after it's gone.

Re: What is considered heavy usage?

I wouldn't consider anything under 50% of the credit line each month heavy usage.

Re: What is considered heavy usage?

If I were in your shoes I would not change my spending patterns. Instead I would get a card that would do a better job of satisfying my needs as a customer.
