Don't be hard on yourself bint. Not much more than a year ago I only had two cards, together less than $1000. Now I'm just shy of $10,000 total. It takes knowledge and patience.

Heh, currently or before a year of CLDs? Currently:

Citi (Sears + Drivers Edge), just over $15K each
Amex Plat Optima, $13+ K
Discover, $12K

Each of the cards above started at around $500 or $1K. Like some who posted, I didn't request for CLIs. I guess it's fair, I didn't ask for the CLDs either. :/

BTW, my most aggressive round of CLIs came from Chase. And well, my most aggressive round of CLDs came from Chase.

The cards were used heavily, yet PIF to get to their CLs. Then I got some great BT promos, and some life changing incidents happened and poof, I lost the promo deals and I'm doing a lot of digging out.

Good ol' Navy Fed Visa $10K 2-08 inc to $15K 3-08!!  Also have the Nav LOC $11K.  Did the CU spree when I first joined the forums (Navy, Patelco, Nasa).  Waiting a while to app with the Big Dogs but I think I like Citi.

Right now these are the cards that I have and limits as of today: Cap1 Platinum Visa (card 1) = 1600 dollars Cap1 Platinum Visa (card 2) = 1600 dollars HSBC Cash or Fly Mastercard = 1350 dollars HSBC Direct Rewards (Discover Network) = 1400 dollars WAMU Platinum Visa = 1000 dollars First Premier Bank Platinum MC = 400 dollars CreditOne Platinum Visa = 200 dollars Target Red Card = 200 dollars

My highest CL's are with Advanta ($24k) & several MBNA/switch to BOA ($15-25k each). As far as PIF vs keep a balance, seems that a mix has been best for me. I think the closer you come to your CL every month, the more likely you are to see a CLI (given good payment history of course), at least with these companies.

My Discover card, on the other hand, is the oldest one I have - by far- and it is still at $9k even though I charge about that much every single month and PIF.  The last couple of months I've hovered around the credit limit - going over by as much as $1k and nothing has been declined/no over limit fees so I guess they are willing to give me more than that, they just don't want to admit it on paper
