They are all trash I call them plastic trash, they have more hidden gottchas than credit cards.

if you have ovrerdraft protection on the account, you can over draft,
Holds for motels and car rentals, could freeze money for needed for checks, auto drafts, more like to cause a problem rather than you not having the avaiable credit on the credit card

You only get a few days float vs 6- 7 weeks you get with a standred credit cards

statistics show that more consumers have problems disputing debit card purchases than those made on credit cards

debit card rewards suck alot are  .5% cash eqv , new paypal cards get 1% instant cash as soon as it posts, but remember if you do the paypal money market it's NOT FDIC insured

Re: What is the best Debit or Check Card that you have seen?

Because I had to charge and split up that tuition last summer, and the holiday season is done, I am going to be carrying my cash only atm for about a quarter. Trying to get three cards that are at zero PIF by Apr/May as after so many years and esp. this year of never going over 10 perc. I am itchy at having so much charged. Yes, it is till zero, but it is way too easy to let those deadlines crawl up.

Anway, for some wierd reason I think I have heard good things about Wamu. Something about no fees at any machine in their network? Don't know thow- could just be pulling something out of dead air.

Anybody feel free to rebut.

And yes, never pay for hotels etc- since you do a lot of traveling w/ debits- as they put holds on them. You already know that I know.

Re: What is the best Debit or Check Card that you have seen?

My debit/MC is from a credit union.  Use it all the time as a MC (online, store) 0 problems.

For over 4 years, this was the only MC card that I had.

I had them disable the overdraft protection on the card for obvious reasons.

Also to renew auto tags at the HEB I needed to use it as a debit since they only allow debit/cash for autotags renewal.

I have banked at WaMu for years.  The "no ATM fees" thing they have a reputation for is a little misleading.  WaMu themselves won't charge you additional fees if you use their card at a different bank's ATM, but you will still have to pay the other bank's ATM fees.

It costs me $102 to get $100 from a Chase ATM with my WaMu debit card.

Underline, bold, and italicize every word of this post!  I couldn't agree more!

Debit cards are dangerous, and should be avoided at all costs!

BOFAs Keep the Change program.  For every purchase the amount deducted is rounde upto the nearest dollar, the difference being put into a savings account.  I think they match it for the first three months and then give you a percentage monthly for each purchase.  Should seen me with the 1.10 purchases te first three months.

When I use a debit card (which is rarely), I love my USAA debit card. No fees for the first 10 withdrawals per month at other banks' ATM's (which is always), and they rebate the other banks' fees up to $15/ month; rewards points 1 pt for $2 (as opposed to 1 pt for $1 for the credit cards.) Never had a problem with it.
