For many, building up limits higher and higher can be fun/addictive/necessary for spend. We get the high limits, and maybe that card doesn't fit your needs anymore. Maybe you got tired of a high annual fee. We all have reasons for closures.
Many here, myself included, sought out high limits. Now I'm about to thin it out some. Thus far, the highest limit I've closed is 5k. On the chopping block is another at 5k and another at 30k. What is the biggest limit you ever closed? Not reallocation, simply, closed and gone?

I lowered a CL from $60,000 to $20,000, if that counts.
Still have the card and they auto CL increased it to $23,500 last year.
Guess they thought I was kidding cutting it to 20.
When Wally got Synced into Cap One I had a $15k store card and $1700 MC. Closed the store card knowing it wasn't going to grow.... MC still at $1700 and the $15k is in the ether lol. Go figure

Yes, it counts. So many folks have been increasing limits, via sp, hp. Getting limits higher and higher. Some in a rebuilding/new to credit climbing the ladder. Should be interesting to see what folks who have achieved the higher limits and have taken in the other direction and closed them.

Was my first starter card with no rewards and the CU absolutely refused to let me do anything with it. Only card I've closed.
Last year I closed Synchrony Care Credit $20k limit
$400 worthless Sams store card account. It was a booby prize the 1st time I applied for the Sams MC.
