I was wondering what the shopping cart trick was? I have been noticing people mentioning it and how it only pops up if your scores are over X amount. Also how would it know what your scores were?
You go to any of the listed comenity bank websites that its been said to work on. Main ones seem to be eddie bauer and victorias secret.
Add an item to your cart, go to checkout. Type your name/info in and click submit or continue, itll take from 5 to 15 seconds to load the next part of the ordering process where it wants your payment info(you dont put that in). If you get a popup, you were pre approved. If not, you werent.
Nothing to do with just a score, has to do with your overall report im pretty sure. (I get denied because I have collections yet my score is not that bad, wife gets denied because shes got no credit history or a thin file)
It soft pulls your credit info to see your credit report (does not affect your score) then scores it based on whatever algorithm they use. Your score with comenity bank probably isnt the same as if you went with chse or capital one.

My guess is it is the same method as pre-screen offers. Those offers are targeted to people who make at least a threshold score.
The shopping cart trick also gives you the card without another hard pull. A typical credit card will make a hard pull even after making the pre-screened offer.

I have been trying for jcrew card for an while since maybe fall of last year, still nothing . I don't know what its actually based on because my scores should be good enough to get an store card i would think.
My credit apparently isn't good enough to get the trick, but I just wanted to see it, so I entered my dad's info in (very good credit), and boom, it popped up on all the sites. So it does work.

Check what address is on your EX report.
be sure if you have an Apartment you see if it is reported on your credit as #, Apt, Unit, etc... I was never getting any popups when I typed my address and put #000 on same line as address when I started to do address and then second line Apt 000 I started to get the pop ups!

Good luck Mong ![]()
However just keep in mind if you're planning to apply for some premium cards later on this summer or early fall, how the lenders will look at new credit.
I'm still biting my hands off after the Slate drapping. AMEX won't forgive me ![]()

I am not planning taking the store cards I just want to see my pop up lol. I noticed conmenity cards and boa cards don't give me any pre approvals . I wonder if something is wrong with my credit report. Ex says everything is fixed for now , i wonder how my scores are affected
I regret using the shopping cart trick as much as I did. I guess it was just the thrill of the pop up and basically the guarenteed approval that follows. I got myself more cards than I need/want and now my AAoA is suffering as well as my newly aquired credit column on my reports. I'd strongly suggest not using the shopping cart trick unless you really need the card...most of them are useless unless you shop with them frequently. There are however a few VISA's that could be helpful.
