amen to all of it! Chase are scammers and rip off artists. They definitely want customers to pay late. I was one day late on a cc that had a balance and they increased my rate from 7.75% to 29%. when I called they said they aren't giving rate reductions at this time. i am a long time customer and always pay on time. I have paid all of my balances from the 4 accounts my wife and I had and they will never see another cent from us. It will take alot of people getting fed up and banning banks who use these tactics before they change their ways of using their "gotcha" tactics to take advantage of people. Thank God the government is reigning in these banks it's just sad that that's what it takes...
That is why it is important to pay on time, every time.
lol - it's not really funny, but my friend had payments scheduled every two weeks with Chase. He was paid on Thursdays, payments were scheduled for Thursdays. This was the way it was for MONTHS.
Then suddenly, one time, he is "late" and received late fees and jacked up interest. Someone had gone in and changed the date for the automatic payment to the Friday, which made it late.
Chase swore up and down that it was not possible. But the site clearly shows when the auto pymts are set up and when they are changed and when you log in. Considering he had months of consistent behavior, had not logged in on the date the payment was changed, and a few other factors, they finally agreed that they could forgive his "late" and refund the fees and not report it late.
Gotta watch them!
A few years later, they reported him as serious delinquent, charge off, and collections on a card with a zero balance.
Called them on that too and they wanted to argue. In the end they agreed it was a mistake. *rolling my eyes*
Gotta watch them!
This is the same bank that closed my card for no reason. At the time, the relationship had been long standing, always paid the card off in full.
They turned me down for a bank account because of my credit report (nothing wrong with my credit report at the time, and the score was 800+).
Gotta watch them!
How long ago were you able to join utilizing your volunteering with Red Cross as the qualifier?

I try to avoid even one time fees but I guess. Clark Kellogg or whoever he is said the same thing. To flee and not vote to leave NCUA.I joined PenFed without any fee or donation. They accept Red Cross volunteers. For anyone who has ever volunteered with the Red Cross for an event or service...there's your way in (for free).
I assumed I may need to document my volunteer service, but they never asked me about it. That's how I joined.

You can do it today! It is listed on the membership page:

Seems to me that it works quite fine.

Thanks...I guess I assumed from your previous post re: when you and HTSU joined it probably was no longer available. I appreciate you looking it up for me. I am a member of several CUs and dont want to over extend. Jst want one with more credit options. I am still waiting to tag along behind my cousin for entry in NFCU since that gets kudos from most of you. I hope PenFed is ok. Recent posts show many of you arent as happy with them anymore.
Red Cross was yet to become available as an option when HTSU and I joined. (We've both been there a while.) I believe we both joined NMFA to enter the FOM.
Personally I am very pleased with PenFed. I have zero issues with them. Same can be said for Her Ladyship. However, PenFed is not for everybody. If it will be an issue of trying to fit a square peg in a round hole then stay away. You will be quite frustrated.
hauling, at the risk of venturing OT, would you elaborate on the basis for your assessment of US Bank as customer friendly? I am not so much doubting you as interested in your experience, as my favorite credit account (Associated) was recently sold by Citi to US Bank.
TIA!

They've figured out where the real money lies. It's up to us as consumers to cover our @sses and figure out who might be interested in working with us. Right now, I'm thinking that it's credit unions and similar organizations like USAA, and US Bank, and maybe some solid regional banks, and that's about it.
