@Anonymous wrote:1. EDP for the great return on gas and grocery. I've had it since November and it has gotten me 31k MR points (worth $600+ for me)
2. PRG (until I close it) for restaurants. (Initially for signup but, serves no purpose with the BBP existing).
3. Blue Business Plus on everything else for the double points. Double points!!
I occasionally use my SPG card for non-category too since I cherish SPG points.
What is your monthly spend on gas and monthly on groceries?
Mine is about $500/month $6k/year which is the max...if i go over $6k, my PenFed Visa 3X on groceries takes over.

May Barclay Arrival + 650 dollars
JUne Southwest Plus 62,000 Points
July Amex PRG - 52000 points + 200 dollar travel credits
August Amex BCE 250 dollars
September CITI AAdvantage 69000 miles
October Southwest Premier 60000 points
November AMEX SPG - 30000 points
What are you referring to? We are talking about which combo (2 or more cards) you use together in a month basis to generate the most cash back and/or points.

Mine is close to $450-$500 a month but there has been two months in which we've slightly crossed that line. I see me and my wife hitting the $6k wall around November. So for December we will probably default to the sockdrawered Blue Cash Everyday or the SPG card.

Perfect!
Well, I have become much less aggressive as of late, and do not pursue every last rebate dollar.
I have it boiled down to:
1. AMEX BCP: 6% groceries and 3% gas (in wallet)
2. Cap One Quicksilver WEMC: 1.5% on everything else. (in wallet)
3. Target Redcard: 5% at Target (we go maybe once a month and may spend $20-60) (in wallet)
In addition, I have Chase Freedom sockdrawered and use it every so often for 5% categories but don't carry it regularly. I have Discover (SD) and never use it.
My wife has Costco Citi Visa, and we use for 4% Costco gas and 2% inside store and occasionally 3% for restaurants (where we usually pay cash).
Freedom/Discover Q4 5% cats don't do much for me, so October will look like:
Heavy use:
Costco for Costco, price rewind, extended warranties
SPG for miscellaneous and some estimated taxes
Light use:
CSP for dining (still plan to downgrade before next AF)
Prestige for flight taxes
Schwab Platinum for lounges (SFO Cent or SFO Delta, itinerary tbd)
ED for grocery promo
Discover for Amazon video purchases
@Anonymous wrote:What is your monthly combo and why did you select it?
Mine:
@1. BCP ($400-$500/month on groceries @ 6% cash back per dollar spent) Estimateted $250 cash back per year AFTER annual fee
@2. PenFed Visa Platinum Rewards ($100-$150/month on gas @ 5X per dollar spent) Estimated $50 per year
@3. Fidelity Visa (Everything else @ 2% per dollar spent) Estimated $200 cash back per year
In my quest to not have too many cards reporting a balance, I usually stick my charges on one or two cards. Unless I'm buying something from Amazon, in which case I'll use my Amazon Prime Visa for that sweet, sweet 5% cashback. In that case, I pay it as soon as the transaction posts.
Right now, I'm just using one card, in an effort to cut back on my spread out rewards programs - my Cash Rewards card from BoA. I'm tired of keeping track of UR's and MR's, and the other cashback options I have.

BCE (soon to be paired with a new BCP as we hit max spend fast) - 3% grocery. ~$6-700/month
Citi Costco - 4% gas & 2% Costco. ~$400/month
Discover - 10% Dining & 2% utility/insurance /random bills or expenses for cash match. ~$500-1500/month
CSP - 2x travel & dining when disco isn't accepted. Fluctuates wildly, but last billing cycle was $5200 with airline tickets.
I'm also throwing random spend on my new NFCU cashrewards to show them some love & usage before requesting first cli in Dec/January
And you get this yearly in a check right? Even if you use non-Costco gas stations?
How do you get 10% on dining?? i would love that!!

Instead of Cap One QS 1.5%, why don't you go for the Fidelity Visa for 2%? I know you said you dont pursue every last rebate, but 2% would be nice, no? or even Citi double cash?
