The annual free night alone makes that card worth keeping.
The annual free night costs $85. ![]()
I would keep the barclays card over the others because I hate paying annual fees on anything that doesn't work in my favor.
Im not sure that Barclay would PC their card to the Sallie Mae... esp that short of a time, and its been already pc'ed once.. But that might also be a good option

The Marriott card gets a stay of execution!
From the Marriott VIsa T&C:
" If your account is not open for at least 6 months, Marriott and Chase reserve the right to deduct the bonus points from your Marriott Rewards account."
Not sure I'm willing to find out if they mean it or not (especially since they were kind enough to grant my request for the recent 70k bonus even though I apped during the standard 50k).

$85 for a ~$300 room is worth it.

Subject to the normal discussion "Would you have paid ~$300 for it?", although that's more normally asked about say $10K international first class flights.
If you wouldn't have stayed in a $300 a night room without the card, some would argue you can't really value that at $300, and the benefit is worth whatever you would have been willing to pay for a room at that hotel. On the other hand, you ARE staying in a room that costs $300 a night, and the fact that you wouldn't without the card might make the benefit seem even more valuable. Another long-running argument (cf should I close an unused credit card with no AF) with no sign of resolution.

The annual free night alone makes that card worth keeping. It does, and the 15 free elite nights are great, too, but the plan to use this card to rack up huge points has changed due to changes in how my work travel will be paid for. Wondering if it makes sense to just shift the $5k over to my CSP since I bump up against its limit now and then.
It's 10 elite nights, not 15
How about Read the offer first? You don't even have the card.
RECEIVE 15 CREDITS TOWARD ELITE STATUS*
With the Marriott Rewards Premier Credit Card, you'll receive 15 Elite Credits after account opening and every year after your account anniversary, giving you guaranteed Silver Elite status every year.
Wow, I made an error ... my deepest apologies. I mistakenly read the "Start with 10 free nights at a Category 1 hotel" as 10 elite nights.
I do have the card, as you'd be able to tell if you looked at my post history.

You can always pumpy all your purchases to your CSP and then transfer the points to your marriott rewards account. I wouldn't chop it 2 months since getting the card.
After meeting the bonus points I will probably either Sock drawer my card and use it on amazon once in a while and just transfer points from my CSP to marriott rewards. The $85 as said before easily pays off with the Free night
This is a horrible use of UR points. Marriott points are woth less than $0.01/point, so even cash back would be better.
While it is horrible it isn't less then $0.01 a point ...
General concensus is Marriott points are worth $0.0084 - $0.007 each

Absolutely right...I got the card because we have to travel frequently since we moved away from all of our family. So getting this card worked out great for us and the AF is justified due to the fact that we would be paying to stay in a hotel regardless so the free night does help us out.
With that said I get what you're saying...it's pointless to say its a great deal if you actually weren't going to spend that much to begin with.
