What new card should I try to get?

I currently have a 3 month old secured capital one card with a 375 limit that I pif every month. I also have a student loan hopefully coming out of rehab in January and my aaoa is 2 years. That's everything on my credit report. I've never had any other cards or anything. My equifax is 655 and transunion is 630. These are fico scores with 3 inquires on each. My question is after my student loan is rehabbed I'd really like to get a prime card. I'm wondering which card would be a good starting card for me that isn't secured. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Also, I'm thinking by the time I apply for a card ( next February or so) I should be at 3 years aaoa. Thanks!

I suggest you try for a better Capital One card after your secured is a year old.

By that time (Should your INQ fall off..):

Chase Freedom

AmEx Zync (apply for a revolver on the same day, its the same pull)

Citi Forward

Discover More (Possibly.. By that time your scores should be near 700)

(most) Barclaycards

There are most likely more

I would wait and let your accounts age some. Also let thosec3 inquiries come off! Good luck

Re: What new card should I try to get?

Well, 2 inquiries will be coming off in January leaving me with one that won't be coming off until October 2013 I think. So, just having one inquiry should be good when I apply correct?

Inquiries don't affect your FICO score after 6 months, I believe.  They'll stay on your report for 2 years however.

After 12 months inquiries are removed for scoring purposes but you're correct that they stay on reports for 2 years,
