If/when I get it, I'm done with apping for credit cards permanently. The Freedom will be my third card, and I don't need anymore anyway. I figure I'll garden for another year if I can stay patient, but if not, at LEAST another 9 - 10 months.
Strongly recommend you reconsider and look for a card that best fits your needs. The freedom card isn't that hard to get once someone has established minimal credit and may not be well suited for you. Its a good card when used right, but if you are only going to have three cards I'm not sure its going to work for you.
Why do you say that? I'm kind of new to the whole credit thing and am genuinely curious. Is there one you think may be better?
There may be. It depends on what you tend to spend money on and what your other cards are and what your goals are. Don't get me wrong. The Freedom is a decent card, but some other cash back cards may work out better for you. Really what we would need to know is 1. What your other two cards are (to see which categories you have covered already) and 2. what you tend to spend money on (and how much) each month (ie, groceries, fuel, restaurants, travel etc). It sounds like your focus would be cash back cards.
The other two cards are Capital One Platinum, (at the beginning of the year when I got the card, my credit was in the toilet, so I got it as a rebuilder card), and Discover It. I use the cards for pretty much everything and make a few payments every month, always making sure it's PIF so I don't have to pay interest. I'm not really interested in a card for travel, seeing as I rarely travel. I guess my end game is to just keep using the cards and paying them off to get a better credit score, because as we all know, life is just easier with good credit. ![]()

If you buy groceries or fuel then maybe the sallie mae card may be worth a look. Its 5% back for the first $250 a month spent on these items, so that may be a worthwhile card to consider. Others would have to chime in as to how hard the approval process for that card is. Its a barclays card. There are a couple of 2% back cards out there as well, which may work if you have more general spend.
1. Marriott for me and ritz Carlton for dh
2 travel points for hotel stays. We just got back from Grand Cayman and spent 2 nights at the Ritz (oh yes, baby)
3. When Marriot goes to70,000 points and one free night annually and ritz brings back 140k offer

I thought marriott was currently at 80k points. I would likely jump on the Ritz offer if it came back. The first time around I was in the garden or had other higher priority cards I was going for, but now it would be a great fit for me.
Planning to apply for Citi Double cash next summer for the 2% cash back .(Currently enrolled in Discover double cash back which will end next summer) .
Sorry. Back to real business.... A question I don't want to start another thread:
Does anyone know how long do I have to wait between 2 applications for different Citicards?
I applied and was instantly approved for a ThankYou Premier on 8/4, and also app for AAdvantage right after that. The AAdvantage delinced due to "duplicated application". The CSR explained I cannot submit 2 applications at the same time. But also said the second app will not affect my credit file (really???). So how long do I need to wait? If I was declined for the same reason again, does it mean that still no effect on my credit?

8 days.
8 days.
Thanks. Is that true the last decline doesn't affect my credit file? I'm not very sure what I heard over phone
