For those of you looking for a card with 3% or 3x points on travel, have you considered the AAA Member Rewards Visa from BOA? There is no annual fee except for the AAA membership, and that has a lot of benefits on its own.
Earn 3 points per dollar (consisting of 2 bonus points and 1 base point) for Net Purchases made with the card through any participating AAA Club, when AAA is the merchant of record or at eligible retail travel merchants. Eligible travel merchants include: (a) Airlines (individual major airline carriers, Airlines/Air Carriers); (b) Car Rental Agencies (individual major agencies and Automobile Rental Agency); (c) Hotels, Motels, Inns and Resorts (individual major hotel/motel chains and Hotels/Motels/Resorts); (d) Steamship/Cruise Lines, and (e) Travel Agencies.
Anyway, here is my wish list:
- Amex BCP and Sallie Mae, both for cash back on groceries - April 2016 (Don't tell me to get 2 Sallie Maes. I would rather diversify and want an Amex for other reasons.)
- Alaska Airlines Visa, since I fly with them almost exclusively - When my scores are all above 700 and there's a 50K miles offer.
- AAA Membership Visa, for the reasons given above - When my scores are all above 700.
- JCB Marukai, for 3% back on everything - In my dreams or when my scores are above 800.
CHASE sapphire because it's metal and my favorite color
1. CSP becuase I would like a travel card and it will pair with my Freedom- thinking 2017 or 2018 though (My freedom is at 5.7k and want to let new accounts age and show I can handle 5k plus).
2. DCU Visa to deepen that relationship. Have an auto loan and a checking with them. I also like the easier cash advance situation in case I get in a bind, but I don't intend on using that feature. Probably when I pay off my auto loan next year and take out a secured loan to protect my installment mix and account age (can stretch them out for a long term). I was told I was preapproved for a 3500 card when I got my current auto refi, but I turned it down as I didn't want to spook Chase with too many new accounts.
3. I don't need a third lol. Part of me wants a Venture one day because I want to break into the big CL but it would be redundant with #1. No time frame because I don't need it lol
Sitting in the garden for a while.
NFCU. A LOC maybe a credit card just because they hand them out like there going out of stay. I'm buying a house end of 2016, hopefully through them .....or
PenFed. I don't care how, I just want in with one or both of these CU.
Citi DC will be my funsies app for the year I think. I just got a mail in offer for 0 percent for 18 months then 15.99. Substanally better than the 20 or 22 percent I was preapproved for a few months ago. I don't really need this card. But just expanding portfolio with a,different bank.
BoA CLI. I don't really care, just for kicks, I don't like giving them my biz.
DIT CLI. Because I love love love the deals.
Please explain your statement "I switch main users with groupon deals". Are you able to get your membership discounted with groupon? I shop at SAMs A LOT. I'd love to hear of additional ways to save. Btw, the SAMs MasterCard is my newest quest!
