I know this is a silly question but I have no experience in dealing with Amex . Should I pay more than once a month ? I don't know my limit which makes me worried about going over limit . Is there anything I should know about spending on a charge card ?
No preset limit.

Just have a lot of self discipline and pay the entire bill in full before the due date. If you think of it as a normal debit card then you'll be fine. Good luck!
pay in full

They might tempt you with their "Pay Over Time" stuff but don't fall for it. Carrying balance is still frown upon (especially if you want to be on their good side).

Doesn't matter. It's up to you.

There's a link on their site once you've logged in to see if a charge will get approved. Many say don't go crazy with that link or else you may run into trouble but I have no idea if that info is correct or not.

NPSL, however, does not mean infinite charging capability.

Should I pay more than once a month ? - No
I don't know my limit which makes me worried about going over limit - Its a charge card so the limit is internal and they will not tell you what it is. You can go to the website if you have a large purchase and check to see if the purchase will be approved by entering the amount.
Is there anything I should know about spending on a charge card ?- Your internal available credit on the card will shift depending on your use. With a charge card you need to pay in full each month. Its not a revolver so the interest/late payments would be really bad. You are expected to pay in full each month and not carry a balance (there can be an exception to this with specific large purchases but in reality if your putting something on your charge card PIF is the only way to go).
I use mine as a debit card to protect my purchases I pay in full even before the statement due date. To check how much they will let you spend when you log in you can go to the spending ability tab and put $1000 and it will say if it will be approved or not.
