All good advice above.  Also having sufficient income and other cards with comparable limits helps.  I'll add that there's a lot about CLIs that we don't understand, sometimes people with similar profiles will have differing results.

There isn't any formula, but as a general rule it helps if you

 

- use the card every month, but not too much, and

- pay in full every month

I don't think step 4 is legal in most states.


That's why I left it vague. It's up for interpretation.
