What's up with Chase....?

I have two Chase cards and for the life of me I can't get them to lower my APR or increase my credit line. Chase is charging 21.94%. Chase Card #1 has $500 CL with $0 balance since August. I have used it twice and paid off balance in full each time. Chase Card #2 has $7,500 with balance of $2,000 and I haven't used it since July. Balance was $6,700 on July 1, 2007 so you see why I haven't used it and I have made significant efforts to pay this monster off. I have two Capital one cards which they have both lowered my APR to under 9% and both have increased my CL. I have a BofA which has done the same. What is it about Chase wanting to be so tough? I have requested lower APR or CL each month for the past 8 months to no avail. I did have a 30 day late just over 3 years ago on both Chase cards, but give me a break...over 3 years ago. I have made up my mind that when the Chase Card #2 is paid off, both of them go in the sock drawer. And to rub salt into the situation, Chase pitched me to buy credit thief protection. I told them I couldn't afford it since Chase was charging me such a high interest rate. These folks are unbelieveable. My credit score has gone up from 569 to 693 since May, 2007.....I can't wait until Chase is chasing my business...Good luck Chase!

My dad has 1 chase platinum, 1 signature and a Circuit city.
Paid Signature from 15k balance to $0... they thanked him by CLD him to 1k.

Not a big fan of Chase right now either.

So far Chase has been pretty good to me and is my highest CL. The CSR told me they like to see lots of usage and PIF for CLIs.

The moral of the story: Use every cc you have at LEAST once every 3 months.

Yes. I normally use every card at least once in 3 months and keep the active and make the ccc issuer happy...

Re: What's up with Chase....?

Glad I saw this before I tried for the CLI with them. I guess I'll bring him out of the sock drawer. Maybe next month!

I've had the same thing with them though. After getting my credit on the road to repair, they seem to be the last to decrease the APR. everyone else has dropped me below 15. They are still holding on the 26%! I haven't used it in about a year, has a zero balance. So maybe I'll start using and PIF. Then trying

Re: What's up with Chase....?

no it's just that he paid it off right around the time credit crunch started... they pulled his credit for first time in over year and under new standards he was in to much debt.  The funny thing was when he first got the signature card (his 2nd Chase acct) he was over 100k in debt.  When they did the review and gave the CLD he was less than 50k in debt!  Mind you that's a lot of debt but he HAD over 150-175k available.

Chase said they would look at putting his cl back if he paid even more debt off.
